Episode 4 recap: Yun Chao Yan arrived at Jing'an Hall and happened to meet Xie Gui Chen, who was searching for clues
Seeing only a lamp and a shoe in the hall, Xie Gui Chen believed that the Wang sisters had fallen out However, Yun Chao Yan noticed the "Inverse Immortal" and the lotus leaf from the hall, and she felt that this incident must be related to Yi Ling She saw Yi Ling trying to take Wen Zi Mo away, so she stepped forward to stop her, guessing that Yi Ling's death might be connected to the Chuang Xiu Court She decided to check the records at the Imperial Censorate
Yun Chao Yan told Ren Shi Que that the missing Wang sister was related to the "Inverse Immortal", not knowing that Xiao Gui Gui was behind Ren Shi Que. Xiao Gui Gui warned Ren Shi Que not to use magic carelessly, as it would reveal his identity as a Moon God. Yun Chao Yan heard this and was puzzled - if Ren Shi Que was a Moon God, why was he on Earth instead of in the heavens? She suspected he had been demoted for breaking a heavenly law, which angered Ren Shi Que and caused him to chase her away. Xiao Gui Gui was worried that Yun Chao Yan would expose their secret, but Ren Shi Que was unconcerned.
Yun Chao Yan decided to help Ren Shi Que solve the case, hoping to stay by his side. She went to the Chuang Xiu Court and asked Yi Ling, who explained that she had hidden Wen Zi Xi to protect her from her sister's harm. Yi Ling also told Yun Chao Yan about how she and her sister Tian Yu had been selected for the palace, but a fire at the Chuang Xiu Court had led to Tian Yu abandoning her.
Yun Chao Yan went to the Imperial Censorate, found Yi Ling's records with Xie Gui Chen's help, and encountered Ren Shi Que and Xiao Gui Gui on her way out. She promised not to reveal their divine identities, in exchange for being allowed to stay at the Censorate to help solve the case. She then found Tian Yu and learned the full story of what had happened years ago, bringing Tian Yu to the Chuang Xiu Court.
Tian Yu came to the Shou Xiu Yuan and told Yi Ling that in the year of the fire at Shou Xiu Yuan, she had run out to find help to rescue Yi Ling, and she had also been injured, with both her hands severely burned. Now she could only do simple chores to make a living. Seeing Tian Yu's scars, Yi Ling knew she was telling the truth. Suddenly, they heard someone shouting that the Jing An Hall was on fire.
Yun Chao Yan learned that Yi Ling had hidden Wen Zhi Xi in a secret compartment in the Jing An Hall, so he rushed there to rescue her. Wen Zhi Mo also ran into the fire to save her sister. Yun Chao Yan and Wen Zhi Mo tried to carry her out, but the fire was too intense and a beam fell on the elder sister. She told Yun Chao Yan to take the younger sister to safety. After sending the younger sister out, Yun Chao Yan went back in to rescue the elder sister, but he didn't have the strength to move the wood. Seeing this, Yi Ling remembered her own experience with Tian Yu in the fire, and decided to help Yun Chao Yan rescue Wen Zhi Mo. Just then, Ren Shi Que used magic to pull Yun Chao Yan out of the fire.
Wen Zhi Mo felt responsible for her sister's disappearance, as she had wished for her not to go to the palace, fearing the difficulties she would face. But Wen Zhi Xi felt it was her own fault for accidentally falling into the secret compartment. She still wanted to enter the palace, as she didn't want to be separated from her sister. Her sister now understood that as long as they were together, it didn't matter where they were.
Tian Yu had always felt guilty for not being able to rescue Yi Ling before. Now, by saving the Wen sisters, she finally felt at peace. She hoped that Yi Ling could let go of the past and be reborn. Yi Ling then put the past behind her and transformed into a golden light, flying into the Jie Po Lamp.
