Episode 23 recap: Huang Yi Mei is exhausted both physically and mentally.
Huang Yi Mei had a video call with her father, Huang Ba Ba, while in a bad mood. When Huang Ba Ba saw Huang Yi Mei's pale complexion, he expressed concern for her condition, but Huang Yi Mei only said she was not feeling well and was feeling a bit confused mentally. Huang Ba Ba mentioned that Huang Ma Ma had given up her career to have Huang Yi Mei. After hanging up, Huang Ba Ba could not stop worrying about Huang Yi Mei, so he decided to go to Shanghai to visit her.
Su Geng Sheng realized his own problems and proactively went to apologize to Huang Zhen Hua. Huang Zhen Hua had always wanted a bathtub to soak in, but Su Geng Sheng could not express his own inner turmoil, and the two ended up arguing again and parting on bad terms.

Huang Zhen Hua received a call from Bai Fu, who wanted to build a resort hotel and asked Huang Zhen Hua to be the designer. Huang Zhen Hua readily agreed, and even during work hours, he was sketching designs, much to the surprise of his colleagues, who didn't expect him to skip meals just to work on the drawings.
Huang Yi Mei was idle at home, while Fang Mu used Huang Yi Mei's books to prop up a table or gave the leftover food to the cats. Whenever Huang Yi Mei was writing, Fang Mu would come over to check on her, making Huang Yi Mei feel more distressed than ever before, so she decided to go outside to write.
Huang Yi Mei prepared to go out for some fresh air, but Fang Mu immediately followed her. Huang Yi Mei walked alone on the street, enjoying a hamburger, and when she passed by a flower shop, she bought a bouquet of roses and chrysanthemums. However, when Fang Mu saw this, she scolded Huang Yi Mei for wasting money, complaining about the price of pork.
When Fang Xie Wen returned home, Fang Mu complained in front of him about Huang Yi Mei wasting money. Fang Xie Wen explained that the money Huang Yi Mei spent was her own, and she usually only bought books and flowers. However, Fang Mu believed that renting a house required money, and even though she knew Huang Yi Mei had used her own money to help him start his company, she did not approve of Huang Yi Mei's spending habits.
Fang Xie Wen was short on money for the house purchase, so Huang Yi Mei gave him the 20,000 yuan from her card and discussed finding a job. Fang Xie Wen boasted that his company would be giving out year-end bonuses, but he did not entertain the idea of Huang Yi Mei finding a job. Huang Yi Mei wandered the streets alone and saw a painting of a little girl that she wanted to buy, but she didn't have the 560 yuan needed. Huang Yi Mei called Su Geng Sheng to vent, and he realized then that she had quit her job. Huang Yi Mei inquired about part-time work, and Su Geng Sheng understood that she was physically and mentally exhausted.
Bai Fu approved of Huang Zhen Hua's design proposal, and Huang Zhen Hua thought Bai Fu's connections should be able to find many famous architectural designers, so he was unsure why Bai Fu had chosen him. Bai Fu trusted Bai Xiao He's judgment and persuaded Huang Zhen Hua to change jobs.
Huang Yi Mei's parents came to Shanghai to visit their daughter. In Huang Yi Mei's absence, Fang Xie Wen lied and claimed that the reason Huang Yi Mei quit her job was because she had fainted before. When Huang Yi Mei returned home, she found her parents in tears. Fang Mu gestured to Fang Xie Wen to go outside, suspecting that Huang Yi Mei had told her parents and that they had come to reprimand her.
Fang Xie Wen prepared to take Fang Mu's parents out to eat, but Fang Mu felt that since she had been in Shanghai for so long, they had not gone out to eat. Fang Xie Wen reminded Fang Mu again not to speak in dialect, but Fang Mu retorted that she did not know how to speak with proper diction.
