Episode 12 recap: Yimei Huang took care of Tina.
After finishing his work, Guodong Zhuang wanted to make up to Yimei, so he decided to cook a big meal for her himself. He bought a lot of ingredients, but then he received a call from his mother, asking him to attend a charity gala. Zhuang decided to bring Yimei along. At the gala, Zhuang introduced Yimei as his girlfriend to his friends. When Zhuang's mother saw them, she politely greeted them and asked Zhuang to go talk to Lulu. Yimei felt out of place, so she went out to the balcony to get some air. There she saw Zhuang's mother and Lulu hugging and chatting, which left her feeling uncomfortable.
After waking up, Yimei gently kissed Zhuang's forehead and quietly left with her luggage. When Zhuang woke up and found her gone, he immediately called to look for her, but then had to rush to the office for overtime work.
Yimei returned to the office, and Gengshen Su noticed her state and wondered when her heart would return. Yimei seemed to have suddenly gained clarity, and Gengshen knew she had an epiphany after going through a lot of inner turmoil earlier.
Yimei received a call from Tina and went to the hospital to visit her. Gengshen also arrived later. Yimei had always thought Tina was single, so she prepared to contact Tina's husband, but Gengshen knew the two had started divorce proceedings. They decided to wait for Tina to decide whether to mention the pregnancy.
At the office, Zhuang was working overtime, and Yimei stayed to keep him company. Watching them busy with work, Yimei felt out of place. A video playing on the big screen made Yimei realize that she and Zhuang were actually heading in opposite directions, despite once thinking they were getting closer. In reality, they had just brushed past each other and were growing more distant.
Huang Yimei received a call from Tina and rushed to the hospital to visit her. Soon after, Su Gengsheng also arrived. Huang Yimei had always thought Tina was single, and was prepared to contact Tina's husband, but Su Gengsheng knew that the two were already in the process of getting divorced. They decided to wait for Tina to decide whether to tell her about the pregnancy.
Huang Yimei learned that Tina had decided to have an abortion, and went to the hospital to visit her, bringing alcohol. The two drank and discussed Tina's relationship. Tina and her husband Mr. Gu had been living separately for a long time, with Tina in Hong Kong and Mr. Gu in Beijing, as they both did not want to give up their careers despite still loving each other. Two months ago, Tina had gone to Hong Kong to file for divorce from Mr. Gu, but soon after discovered she was pregnant.
Huang Yimei was worried that Tina would regret giving up the child after the divorce, but Tina did not want to be just a housewife and wanted to be herself. Before the surgery, Mr. Gu visited Tina, and Huang Yimei helped them get some time alone, asking the nurse not to disturb them. Before leaving, Mr. Gu asked Huang Yimei to take care of Tina and reminded her not to drink too much.
Huang Yimei contacted Zhuang Guodong again, and Zhuang shared the good news of his upcoming promotion. Through his mother's introduction, Zhuang had also met a Belgian painter, which would be beneficial for his future career development. However, these plans did not include Huang Yimei, so she decided to seriously break up with Zhuang Guodong, despite his patient persuasion.
After leaving the company, Huang Yimei was caught in the heavy rain. Su Gengsheng and Huang Zhihua helped the drunken Huang Yimei back home, and Huang Zhihua let Su Gengsheng rest on the sofa. The next morning, Huang Zhihua found himself hugging Su Gengsheng's leg, causing an awkward situation.
After waking up, Huang Yimei went to Zhuang Guodong's apartment to collect her belongings. She used paint to cover the roses on the wall, and tearfully looked at the familiar things around her.
