Episode 24 recap: The Master's Folding Fan.
Pei Zhi Jie distributed folding fans to everyone, giving each person one fan, and everyone was very happy. Xu Xiaoqian also looked forward to having a folding fan of his own, but Pei Zhi Jie told him that this fan was promised to everyone before Xu Xiaoqian arrived, and they hadn't considered Xu Xiaoqian at that time. Xu Xiaoqian felt disappointed, but Lu Zhi Fei generously offered to share his own fan on social media for Xu Xiaoqian. Xu Xiaoqian said he didn't care about the fan and wouldn't show off like Lu Zhi Fei.
Zhang Yuan comforted Xu Xiaoqian, saying that the Master was very generous and always gave them gifts. Xu Xiaoqian felt happy after hearing that and thought there was hope for himself. Zhang Yuan told Xu Xiaoqian that the last time he received a fan was sixteen years ago. Hearing this, Xu Xiaoqian felt deflated, like a deflated balloon. He then noticed the fan in Wan Xia's hand and his eyes lit up, but Wan Xia refused to give it to him.
Wang Bo opened a box and told Xu Xiaoqian that there were many fans inside. Xu Xiaoqian was excited, but when he saw the fans, he felt disappointed and left. He was sad that his senior brother also played tricks on him. Pei Zhi Jie gave his own fan to Xu Xiaoqian, and at first, Xu Xiaoqian was very happy. But later, he thought about it and handed the fan back to Pei Zhi Jie with a forced smile, indicating that he actually cared about not having seen the Master even once and felt a bit disappointed.
Pei Zhi Jie said that the Master paid a lot of attention to Xu Xiaoqian and suggested that Xu Xiaoqian should ask the Master directly for a fan. Xu Xiaoqian was instantly filled with joy and said that he could wait another sixteen years for this request. When Wan Xia saw Xu Xiaoqian wearing strange clothes and behaving strangely while she was sleeping, she found it a bit confusing.
Xu Xiaoqian explained that he was excited to come and listen to Wan Xia sing and wanted to see the Master's fan. Wan Xia asked Xu Xiaoqian to do six months of housework, and Xu Xiaoqian happily agreed, saying he was willing to protect the fan with his life. He then proudly showed off to Lily, but accidentally broke the fan when he tripped over a mop.
Xu Xiaoqian chased after Zhang Yuan, blaming him and insisting that Zhang Yuan compensate him for the broken fan.
Wan Xia approached and asked Xu Xiaoqian to return the fan to her next week. Xu Xiaoqian saw that Zhang Yuan was about to tell Wan Xia that the fan was broken, so he quickly pulled Zhang Yuan away.
Wan Xia looked at the two of them strangely. Xu Xiaoqian wanted Zhang Yuan to cooperate with him and pretend that he didn't hold the fan properly, so Xu Xiaoqian could avoid blaming himself. Zhang Yuan thought that Xu Xiaoqian's actions made Wan Xia hate him even more and suggested that Xu Xiaoqian go ask the Master for a fan.
Their argument was overheard by Wang Bo, who thought Xu Xiaoqian was making a simple matter complicated. Wang Bo believed that it was unnecessary to go to such lengths for just a fan and suggested that Xu Xiaoqian find a calligrapher to write a piece for them. The calligrapher stated that they couldn't copy someone else's characters as it would be disrespectful.
When Xu Xiaoqian heard that the calligrapher asked for 10,000, he thought the master was greedy. As Xu Xiaoqian handed him a pen, Wang Bo told Xu Xiaoqian that the master didn't need a pen and played with his hands. Xu Xiaoqian saw this and thought the master was fake. He could only practice by himself, but Lily offered to help him. Xu Xiaoqian didn't believe her, but he was pleasantly surprised when he saw Lily write. When he heard that she wanted him to work as a waiter for free, he gladly agreed.
Wan Xia found out about this, and Xu Xiaoqian realized that these people had already revealed the situation. Xu Xiaoqian quickly claimed that it was the Master's doing, but Wan Xia didn't believe him and thought he was lying. After Pei Zhi Jie provided proof, everyone realized that they had misunderstood Xu Xiaoqian.
Lily looked happily at Xu Xiaoqian as he worked diligently.
