Episode 5 recap: Shen Li's whereabouts were exposed.
Once, Lotus Fairy helped Gu Chengjin clean the room and accidentally triggered a mechanism. The door to a secret room opened, and out of curiosity, she walked in. Inside, she found a woman lying on the bed who bore a striking resemblance to her. A malicious demon-like figure sneered at her, mocking her for finally discovering the truth. This woman was the one that Gu Chengjin deeply loved all along. The Lotus Fairy was shown the story of the woman's past with Gu Chengjin.
In the late night, a group of people dressed in black broke into Shen Li's courtyard. Fortunately, Xingyun had made preparations in advance. Once these people entered the courtyard, they were trapped by a formation and tormented. The courtyard echoed with screams, while Xingyun calmly enjoyed his tea inside the house. Shen Li heard the commotion and walked out of the door, only to see the formation already in effect. She accidentally stepped into the formation and was met with a scene of devastation. Luckily, Xingyun arrived in time to help her regain her senses.
Gu Chengrui's forces were not willing to accept defeat. They directly launched rockets towards the courtyard, attempting to burn it down. With Shen Li's protection, she remained unharmed, but the assassins trapped by the formation suffered greatly. Unable to bear seeing the courtyard stained with blood, Shen Li soared into the air and used her formation to extinguish the fire. Then she threw all the assassins out of the door, and finally, the opponents retreated.
Shen Li's practical use of formations exposed her location to the spirit realm. Inside the palace, Shen Li's mother immediately sent people in the direction where she had just been exposed. The small courtyard was no longer safe for staying, so Shen Li took Xingyun and went to Gu Chengjin's mansion. During the daytime, when she first arrived at this mansion, Shen Li already felt something strange. Now, in the dead of night, she finally caught a glimpse of the truth. Many unformed spirits were nurtured here, scattered throughout the courtyard, but unfortunately, Xingyun, being a mortal, couldn't see them at all.
Shen Li cautioned Xingyun to be careful, but he naively thought that she was afraid and kindly wanted to hold her hand. Seeing Xingyun's innocent and foolish face in front of her, Shen Li wondered if he truly saw her as a woman.
It feels really good. Shen Li leaned closer to Xingyun and confessed under the moonlight that she might actually have feelings for him. Xingyun's appearance remained calm as always, but it made Shen Li uncomfortable. Shouldn't Xingyun be happy or grateful upon hearing her confession? Suddenly, something unusual happened at the mansion. Shen Li discovered that the spirits nurtured here were craving for a master, and there were women screaming everywhere in the courtyard. Shen Li instructed Xingyun not to leave her side and began searching for the area with the most noxious miasma.
There, she encountered Xiaohe, Shiyin, and Gu Chengjin. Xiaohe discovered that she was deliberately nurtured by Gu Chengjin to be used as a replacement for Shiyin's life force. Enraged, she fell into madness and vowed to die with Gu Chengjin. Jin Yue Mansion was filled with chaos and miasma due to Xiaohe's actions. Shen Li worked hard to regain control of the situation and planned to find the Lotus Fairy in the hopes that she could change for the better. If she continued to be corrupted, Shen Li would have to eliminate her completely.
Shen Li made every effort to save the innocent mortals in Jin Yue Mansion. Along the way, she encountered Mo Fang, who had found her in advance. Mo Fang urged her to leave quickly as pursuers from the spirit realm would arrive soon. Shen Li glanced back at Xingyun and told Mo Fang that she had developed feelings for a mortal. She hoped to stay a little longer, as time passed differently in the mortal world. Shen Li knew that Xingyun's physical condition was extremely poor, so she asked Mo Fang to help her delay the pursuers from the spirit realm. She only needed a few more days before returning, and Mo Fang, who had always listened to her, agreed.
Xingyun reminded Shen Li that Xiaohe was likely hiding in the lotus pond. Surprisingly, he presented Shen Li with a hairpin made from a hidden sleeve arrow. Shen Li summoned the Lotus Fairy from the lotus pond and, after spanking her a few times, the Lotus Fairy finally admitted her mistakes. She blamed herself for bringing harm to others because of Gu Chengjin. Many people were affected by the malevolent aura. Originally, Shen Li planned to eliminate the Lotus Fairy if she didn't repent, but now she could resolve the situation without resorting to extreme measures.
