Episode 4 recap: Li Meng Meng accompanied Qi Yan on his birthday.

When Li Meng Meng was about to come down after hanging the lanterns, she almost slipped but was quickly caught by Qi Yan. However, Qi Yan felt that something was off and ordered Lu Huan to deduct Li Meng Meng's salary. Upon hearing that her salary would be deducted, Li Meng Meng muttered that it would be better if Qi Yan hadn't caught her at all.

Qi Su wanted to treat the officials to a meal, but it turned out that Qi Yan was also planning to hold a banquet for the officials that day. Qi Su instructed Zhui Ying to investigate Li Meng Meng's situation, as he wanted Qi Yan to return Cui Wan Er to his side without any objections.

On the day of the banquet, the ministers had all gone to attend the prince's welcoming feast. Qi Yan, seeing that none of the ministers were present, asked Lu Huan what was going on. Lu Huan informed him that although the ministers didn't show up, they had sent their gifts. As he spoke, they brought in a box, and when it was opened, Li Meng Meng emerged from inside.

Qi Yan was prepared to deduct Li Meng Meng's salary and was curious about the whereabouts of his ministers. Li Meng Meng claimed to know the answer and asked Qi Yan if she told him, whether she could make up for her mistake. Qi Yan arrived at the welcoming feast of the prince, Qi Su, and upon his arrival, the courtiers fell silent.

Qi Yan stated that he was also here to attend Qi Su's welcoming feast and told the ministers to relax. He asked Qi Su to give a performance for the ministers, and Qi Su waved his sword. After Qi Su's performance, he asked Qi Yan to perform as well, and Qi Yan had Li Meng Meng hold an apple on her head as a target.

Unexpectedly, both Qi Yan and Qi Su hit the apple, and Li Meng Meng exclaimed that Qi Su was amazing. Although Qi Su returned to the city without an imperial decree, Qi Yan still wanted to reward him. Saying this, Qi Yan took out a statue of the Goddess of Mercy and thought that Qi Su was of marriageable age and should find a suitable partner soon to have children.

Qi Yan instructed Lu Huan to count the monetary gifts given by the ministers and send them to Mr. Li, and Li Meng Meng commented on how great it was to be an emperor and receive so much money. She mentioned that in their hometown, they only received monetary gifts on important occasions such as birthdays and weddings.

Qi Yan heard all this and walked out unhappily. Lu Huan said that Li Meng Meng talks too much.

Li Meng Meng didn't know what she said wrong again, and Lu Huan told her that today is Qi Yan's birthday. Qi Yan sat alone, drinking in silence, recalling how he used to spend his birthdays alone as a child, unable to do anything. Qi Yan was very unhappy, but Li Meng Meng made a birthday cake for him using watermelons and other fruits.

Although Qi Yan didn't understand what it was, he still followed Li Meng Meng's instructions and made a wish, saying that he wanted the moon in the sky. Upon hearing this, Li Meng Meng immediately ran over and took out her camera, telling Qi Yan that it was another "chicken" from their hometown.

Li Meng Meng took a photo of Qi Yan with the moon using her camera. Qi Yan looked at the photo and said he really liked the things from Li Meng Meng's family. Qi Yan said that Li Meng Meng still owed him something because she accidentally saw his irrigation canal diagram last time.

Li Meng Meng told Qi Yan that in their geography book, the irrigation canal wasn't done like that. In their place, it was underground to prevent water loss. Qi Yan thought it was great after hearing this, and he asked Li Meng Meng to draw that diagram. However, at the crucial moment, Li Meng Meng couldn't remember it, so Qi Yan said he would give her one more day.

Something suddenly got into Qi Yan's eye, and Li Meng Meng quickly helped him blow it out. Lu Huan happened to see this scene and thought Li Meng Meng was audacious. Lu Huan asked Qi Yan if his mouth was okay, and Qi Yan said it was his eye that had something in it.

While Li Meng Meng was trying to see if she could go back into the water barrel, Qi Su suddenly appeared and realized that Li Meng Meng was a woman. Qi Yan asked Lu Huan where Li Meng Meng had gone, and Lu Huan thought she must be slacking off.

Just as Lu Huan finished speaking, Li Meng Meng came running over and gave Qi Yan a drawing she had made herself. After looking at it, Qi Yan said he had never seen such a method of canal construction before and asked Li Meng Meng why there were no specific measurements. Li Meng Meng said she wasn't a professional, and such matters should be handled by experts.

Zhou Quan told Li Meng Meng that there were rumors in the palace that the Emperor prefers men. Li Meng Meng said she was a woman, and Zhou Quan said the Emperor doesn't know that.
