Episode 13 recap: Qi Yan misses Li Meng Meng very much.
Qi Yan was rescued by Kong An from the water, and after waking up, he sought solace in alcohol every day. Qi Yan feels that no one understands him, including his mother. Qi Yan misses Li Meng Meng very much and has become accustomed to having her by his side.Qi Yan doesn't know where Li Meng Meng is, but he is certain that she is still alive. Li Meng Meng has arrived at Linzhou Bridge and surrounded herself with sand to create a water pit. Li Meng Meng keeps jumping into the pit, thinking that it will solve everything. However, to her disappointment, it doesn't work. She wonders if she can never go back.
While sitting by the bridge, Li Meng Meng sees Lord Li being taken away by someone. She worries that it might be related to Qi Yan and Lord Li's involvement in the canal project. Li Meng Meng quickly follows them and prepares to enter the county office. However, two guards stop her at the gate. Li Meng Meng claims that she was ordered to come here to catch ghosts.
The two guards don't believe that there are ghosts here, so Li Meng Meng takes out her phone and takes a photo of them using special effects. When the guards see themselves in the photo with distorted appearances, they believe what Li Meng Meng said. Li Meng Meng enters the prison and claims that she's here to save Lord Li, but he refuses to escape.
No matter how Li Meng Meng persuades him, he is unwilling. Qi Yan arrives in time and suggests that Lord Li should follow him. Qi Su learns about Lord Li's escape and orders his men to block the official road and conduct searches one by one. During their escape, they encounter Changrui, who directs them to hide in a yard he had prepared in advance.
Changrui puts on Lord Li's clothes and decides to impersonate him to divert the pursuers. Lord Li is unwilling to let him take such risks, but Changrui insists, citing Lord Li's kindness towards him and the people of Luxian County. Qi Su becomes suspicious when he discovers that only he is left behind and orders his subordinates to pursue them.
Cui An Shi and his men also arrive, but due to the large number of civilians, they have to let a few people escape. Qi Yan vows to protect Lord Li and tells him to leave first. Li Meng Meng arrives at the riverside, believing that Lord Li is safe, but she wonders how she can return.
Qi Yan approaches her and asks what she's thinking, wondering if she's planning to escape again. Qi Yan asks Li Meng Meng if she came to Luxian County to save Lord Li, and she tells him that it just happened to be the case.
Qi Yan said that he wants to send Li Meng Meng back so that he knows how to find her again.
Li Meng Meng replied that she doesn't know how to go back either, so Qi Yan suggests that she stays with him. Li Meng Meng insists that she must go back eventually. Qi Yan then asks if her hometown is really that good. He asks Li Meng Meng what her position is in her hometown, and she replies that she's just an underachiever.
Upon hearing that, Qi Yan jokingly says he will bestow upon her the title of "First-Rank Underachiever." Li Meng Meng laughs in response. True to expectations, Cui An Shi's men arrive to chase after Li Meng Meng. She quickly jumps into the water. Qi Yan sees Li Meng Meng falling into the water and rushes to protect her.
Kong An quickly rescues Qi Yan from the water, but Qi Yan faints. Empress Dowager asks Qi Su if he can't even capture a small official, but Qi Su explains that the people are resentful and are protecting Lord Li. Empress Dowager remarks that if someone is instigating Qi Yan to open the canal, then they are opposing her.
Empress Dowager insists on summoning Qi Yan and forbidding him from constructing the canal. Qi Yan feels that it would be better if he weren't emperor at all, and as soon as he says that, Empress Dowager slaps him. Qi Yan, feeling extremely sad, drinks alone. He misses Li Meng Meng dearly and believes that no one understands him, not even his mother.
He has grown accustomed to the days when Li Meng Meng was by his side. Qi Yan knows that Li Meng Meng must still be alive, hiding in a forest. She laments that she can't return home, and Qi Yan feels lost as well.
At her lowest point, Li Meng Meng sees a delivery from a escort agency, heading towards Yangcheng. Without much thought, Li Meng Meng decides to hop on the carriage. After arriving at her destination, she realizes that she left her bag on the carriage.
Unaware that she has arrived at the Saifu, Qi Yan discovers that the people chasing after them are Cui An Shi's men. Using her wit and intelligence, Li Meng Meng manages to impress the Saifu's young lady and quickly earns promotions. After a busy and exhausting day, Li Meng Meng sits down and thinks about Qi Yan.
Looking at the stars in the sky, Li Meng Meng wonders what Qi Yan is doing at this moment.
