Episode 7 recap: The heart of the river, the white-faced Nan Xing had a dispute.

The general had also arrived, and was very surprised to see the scene. Nan Xing was being held hostage by the general's wife with a knife, and didn't know what the situation was or why the general's wife had turned this way. Jiang Xin Bai asked the general's wife who was behind her, but she refused to say.  Jiang Xin Bai said he had previously asked the general why he took money from the three great families but didn't do anything, and now he understands it was because the general's wife had already handled those matters for him.

The general just learned what happened and questioned his five subordinates, and the general's wife admitted that it was because of their deaths. The general was very shocked. Jiang Xin Bai told the general's wife to reveal who was behind her, or else he would take her back to the chief constable's office for questioning. That's when Nan Xing realized Jiang Xin Bai was from the chief constable's office, and was shocked that all the things Jiang Xin Bai had said to him were lies, and that he had married Nan Xing to use him.

Jiang Xin Bai said the three great families moved too fast, and he had already sensed something was wrong. The general said this matter was related to him, and he would go back with the general's wife to be questioned. The general's wife didn't want to go back with Jiang Xin Bai, grabbed a knife and committed suicide, saying that only her death could allow the general to live.

After returning, Jiang Xin Bai and Nan Xing argued. Nan Xing said he didn't have Jiang Xin Bai's mission or greatness, and had many things he wanted to do and places he wanted to go, and his life, while not valuable, was his own. Jiang Xin Bai's subordinate told him that if he didn't chase after Nan Xing, he would feel guilty, so Jiang Xin Bai hurried after him.

Nan Xing ran out, but his menstruation had started, knowing he was about to transform, so he tore off a piece of cloth to cover himself.

Jiang Xin Bai and Nan Xing passed by each other, but at this point Nan Xing had transformed into a different form, and Jiang Xin Bai did not recognize him. Outside, Nan Xing found the person who had previously kidnapped him, and tied him up, asking what the earlier events were all about.

The bound man could only reveal the past events - it turned out that back then, the young master had rescued Nan Xing, and this man had quickly sent people to chase after them. But on the way, a group of people suddenly appeared and drugged Nan Xing, and another group later came and took the injured and unconscious Jiang Xin Bai away. The kidnapper also discovered that the latter group wore official boots, boots that not just anyone could wear, so they must have connections to the capital.

Jiang Xin Bai returned to the capital, and on the way he encountered a small-time thief. Jiang Xin Bai's subordinates apprehended him, and the Imperial Guard came, wanting to take the thief away, feeling these matters should not be handled by the chief constable's office. Jiang Xin Bai's subordinates cited the laws and took the man back with them. When Jiang Xin Bai returned home, he saw his mother wearing a veil.

Jiang Xin Bai still recognized his mother, but she felt he was very dull. Jiang Xin Bai's mother spoke of his recent activities, saying his identity should not have him go to the borders. Jiang Xin Bai said he was investigating a case, and his mother told him to be careful, as he was not only his father's son, but also her son.

Jiang Xin Bai's mother mentioned his maternal grandfather's upcoming birthday, and asked him to go to the manor to help with the occasion, which Jiang Xin Bai could only agree to.
