Episode 16 recap: The white heart in the river met with Nanxing and opened their hearts to each other.
Jianxinbai was surprised that Nanxing spoke to her, and Nanxing said this was their chance to open up to each other and help one another. Jiangsuluo was heard by someone outside and tried to leave, but accidentally slipped. Liuruokuan came in and quickly supported Jiangsuluo.Jianxinbai went to buy clothes, describing her features in detail, but was interrupted by the shopkeeper who just wanted to know her size, not the specifics of her appearance.
At the flowing water banquet, red envelopes were given out. Twin sisters came, and Nanxing couldn't recognize them, but Jianxinbai could, surprising Nanxing. Nanxing jokingly mentioned Jianxinbai's face blindness, and Jianxinbai talked about Nanxing's transformation, neither wanting to go further.
Liuruokuan was busy in the kitchen and didn't come out, so Nanxing took a red envelope to give to him. Nanxing saw something on her dress and realized she was about to transform, quickly hiding away. Jianxinbai saw this and took Nanxing away.
Jianxinbai took Nanxing home, and they reiterated their surprise at opening up to each other and the chance to help one another. Jianxinbai talked about her face blindness, always being suspicious and unable to trust others. Jiangsuluo came to Nanxing's place to try to find her secret.
Dancers were hired, and Liuruokuan mistook Jiangsuluo for a dancer, giving her a red envelope and a flower. Nanxing tried to understand Jianxinbai's world of face blindness by covering her own face, which Jianxinbai witnessed and was glad to see. Nanxing realized how lonely it must be for Jianxinbai to never see faces.
Previously, Sir Lu and others wanted to appoint Jianxinbai as the Jiangzhou Prefect, but her mother and maternal grandfather intervened to stop it. Jianxinbai came to their store and uncovered their illegal activities, wanting to arrest them, but Shanbielic felt this should not be Jianxinbai's responsibility.
Jianxinbai told Shanbielic that if he wanted to question the Chief Constable's office's handling of the case, he should come to them. Lu brought in Jianxinbai's maternal grandfather, and Jianxinbai released Lu's relatives.
Jianxinbai's grandfather told him about when his father was exiled to Jiaozhou, and how Jianxinbai insisted on going with him, despite his mother's tears. Jianxinbai's grandfather, being an outside surname Wang, could not strongly support Jianxinbai's father, which Jianxinbai understood even if he couldn't agree.
Yanbiging, the Hanlin Academy Supervisor, returned and asked Jiangsuluo when they would tell their parents about their relationship. Jiangsuluo felt the time was not right, but Yanbiging said he could help if Jiangsuluo would also help him.
Yanbiging ran into Jianxinbai at the Wang manor, but Jianxinbai did not recognize him. Nanxing went out with Jianxinbai, greeted Yanbiging, and Yanbiging introduced himself. Jianxinbai conversed with Yanbiging and was glad he recognized her.
Jianxinbai told Nanxing about this, surprised that Nanxing would help her, but Nanxing said she wasn't the type to kick someone when they're down.
