Episode 23 recap: Guo Jing and Huang Rong encountered the real and fake Qiu Qian Ren.
Mu Nian Ci initially thought that Yang Kang went to the beggar clan to reform himself, so she accompanied Yang Kang to Yuezhou. However, she did not expect that Yang Kang not only deceived her but also exploited her, betraying her trust. Wanyan Honglie ordered Yang Kang to kill Mu Nian Ci, but Yang Kang truly loved Mu Nian Ci and could not bring himself to kill her.
Huang Rong came to meet Qiu Qian Ren as promised, but Qiu Qian Ren did not remember the appointment at all. The members of the beggar clan, such as Peng Zhang Lao, did not believe Huang Rong's story about Yang Kang. Huang Rong then produced the Iron Palm Decree, stating that it was taken from Yang Kang, proving that Yang Kang was a running dog of the Jin people.
Seeing that Huang Rong was ruining his plans, Yang Kang tried to ambush her, but Huang Rong's soft hedgehog armor saved her from harm. Peng Zhang Lao and the others then proposed that if Huang Rong could defeat the three of them with the Dog-Beating Staff Technique, they would acknowledge her as the clan's leader. Huang Rong successfully defeated the three of them, and they finally recognized her as the rightful leader.
Peng Zhang Lao pretended to submit, but he secretly planned to harm Huang Rong. Fortunately, Guo Jing reacted quickly and injured Peng Zhang Lao, saving Huang Rong from harm.
