Episode 9 recap: Little Seven safely returned to Zhaoyang County.

Qin Yong and Wang Shi Tu led a team to Qing Ye's location, where they discovered an unconscious member of the joint defense team, but he was still alive. Wang Shi Tu found the number "7" symbol left by Little Seven at the scene. They followed the clues and found a recording device, which showed the events up until Qing Ye and his third Miss escaped. Qin Yong immediately deployed forces to pursue Qing Ye's criminal gang.

Little Seven fled with the kidnapped little sister. He told her that he was a good person and his father was a policeman. However, Qing Ye was not asleep and discovered them. Little Seven hid the little sister, then deliberately revealed himself to distract Qing Ye's group, knowing he was no match for them. Sure enough, he was captured again.

The little girl was also found by Qing Ye. The two were brought back to the criminal hideout. The girl was heartbroken, crying that Little Seven had deceived her, as he did not actually have a policeman father.

Wang Shi Tu and Qin Yong spotted the disguised Third Miss at the train station and arrested her. She revealed Qing Ye's hiding place. They soon found Little Seven, with Qing Ye holding him hostage to threaten the police. But Qing Ye's resistance was futile, and he was ultimately arrested.

Little Seven was terrified, trembling as he clung to Wang Shi Tu. Qing Ye confessed that he had found Little Seven when the boy was burning with fever, and had cared for him for half a year. When Little Seven recovered, he had no memories, but upon seeing Qing Ye's food, had called him "father", so Qing Ye had decided to keep him.

Wang Jia had broken the news of her brother's death to their mother, who could not accept it and passed away from illness.

It turned out that the one who tore up the identity documents was not just Wang Shuai, but also Bian Jie. Bian Jie returned home to steal money, but was accidentally killed by Yan Zi using a nunchaku. Jin Man Fu disposed of the body.

Du Yi returned home from the police station. His father angrily accused him of being the one who killed Wang Shuai years ago, calling him a vicious beast. But Du Yi was not afraid of his father's accusation - he did not admit to killing Wang Shuai, though he believed Wang Shuai deserved to die for mocking Du Yi's sixth finger.

Little Seven finally had the chance to live openly, with the police providing him the opportunity. There were still some difficulties in obtaining his ID card, so he had to wait a bit longer.

Little Seven remembered Jie Ba's wish to see the ocean, so he hoped Wang Shi Tu could take him to the seaside. He also thought about Bian Mei Zhen, and Wang Shi Tu told him not to dwell on it, and to continue seeing her as his mother, so that Bian Mei Zhen could move on.

Wang Shi Tu told Little Seven that if he ever encountered someone who looks just like him, he must apprehend and report that person, as it would likely be Bian Jie. Little Seven agreed.

At the seaside, Little Seven fulfilled Jie Ba's wish, hoping he would no longer have any regrets.

Flashing back to 1993, Bian Jie had not actually died. He had climbed out of the trunk as Jin Man Fu was digging a hole, and managed to escape.
