Episode 4 recap: The relationship between Wang Shi Tu and Bian Jie has improved.

Bian Mei Zhen went missing, so Yan Zi and Jin Man Fu quickly reported it to the police. Later, someone found Bian Mei Zhen near the sheep village, but it's still unclear how she got there. Wang Shi Tu took this opportunity to analyze the situation regarding Bian Jie's recent behavior with Jin Man Fu. Just as Wang Shi Tu was saying that Bian Jie might not return, Bian Jie suddenly ran back. It surprised Wang Shi Tu, as Bian Jie had heard the missing person announcement for Bian Mei Zhen on the bus and rushed back, still concerned about her since she went missing because of him.

Seeing this, Jin Man Fu said they can discuss Wang Shi Tu's earlier comments later, and now the priority is to find Bian Mei Zhen. Wang Shi Tu proactively offered to take Bian Jie to the sheep village to look for Bian Mei Zhen, as this would give him more time to interact with Bian Jie and potentially discover more about him.

On the way, there was a car accident, but luckily Wang Shi Tu's experience prevented a serious incident. Even while Wang Shi Tu was unconscious, Bian Jie did not run away and instead tried to help get him to safety. After regaining consciousness, Wang Shi Tu continued to take Bian Jie to find Bian Mei Zhen, and they eventually located the hypothermic Bian Mei Zhen at her mother's grave.

Bian Jie truly treated Bian Mei Zhen as his own mother and was very concerned for her. Upon hearing that Bian Mei Zhen was found, Jin Man Fu lit incense and said something unusual, hoping the child in front of him could truly be Bian Jie.

Bian Mei Zhen recovered, but she was still very weak. Bian Jie stayed by her side, and Bian Mei Zhen was afraid he would leave, so she didn't dare to close her eyes and rest. Bian Jie comforted her and promised he wouldn't leave, allowing Bian Mei Zhen to finally fall asleep.

Bian Jie saw Wang Shi Tu looking at a photo in his wallet and asked who it was. Wang Shi Tu shared the story of his own son, who had gone missing at age 5 and has not been found after many years of searching.

Bian Jie was slightly moved upon seeing Wang Shi Tu's state, and he apologized to Wang Shi Tu, feeling very sorry for having deceived him earlier. Wang Shi Tu decided to go back to Xiangyang County to continue their discussion.

The paternity test that Wang Shi Tu had secretly conducted had revealed the results - Bian Jie was indeed not his real son. However, based on his observations, the fake Bian Jie did not have any malicious intent. Considering this, Wang Shi Tu decided not to take any immediate action against Bian Jie, as that might upset Bian Mei Zhen. The chief took into account Bian Mei Zhen's special circumstances and gave Wang Shi Tu two weeks to handle this matter.

Qin Yong returned from his business trip, but the results were not too great - the target had relocated, and they failed to catch the suspect. This time, Wang Shi Tu did not reveal the situation with the fake Bian Jie, only stating that Bian Jie and Bian Mei Zhen's mother-son relationship was genuine. Qin Yong felt that Wang Shi Tu had been unnecessarily concerned, as parents can usually tell if a child is truly theirs.

Wang Shi Tu told Bian Jie that they had never given up on the 417 case, and the real Bian Jie would eventually return. He hoped that Bian Jie would live in the light and not become a shadowy figure. Wang Shi Tu invited Bian Jie to have a meal at his home. During the meal, Wang Shi Tu noticed that Bian Jie enjoyed drinking the soup with his noodles, which reminded him of his son, Doudou.

Since Bian Jie had never eaten noodles before and didn't know his own birthday, Wang Shi Tu suggested that today could be his birthday, as they were eating longevity noodles. This way, if Bian Jie were to get an ID card in the future, he could use April 11th as his birthday. Bian Jie was overjoyed, and Wang Shi Tu even prepared a candle for him to make a wish and blow out. This was Bian Jie's first-ever birthday celebration, and he felt the warmth of a family for the first time.

After Bian Jie left, Wang Shi Tu went to apologize in front of his late wife, Lulu's portrait, as today was Doudou's birthday, and he had given Bian Jie the noodles meant for his son. He hoped Lulu would not be upset with him.
