Episode 15 recap: Jin Manfu was arrested.
Wang Shitu dressed himself up carefully, wanting to go with Jin Manfu to pick up Doudou, but Jin Manfu told him that Yanzi had not been released, and even forced him to contact the police to inquire about the situation. Wang Shitu contacted his disciple Zhang Zheng, but according to the rules, Zhang Zheng could not tell Wang Shitu anything about the case. In front of Jia Manfu, Wang Shitu cursed these people as selfish and ungrateful - they didn't care about the teacher-student relationship as soon as they were demoted. He also felt that Qin Yong had deliberately sabotaged him, just because Qin Yong wanted a promotion and was secretly working against him.

Jia Manfu was suspicious. He decided to go to Yanzhong Village, but as soon as he put on his raincoat, Bian Meizhen saw him. Bian Meizhen's memories slowly resurfaced - she realized that this was the person who had stood by her bed in Yanzhong Village years ago, the "water ghost."
Jia Manfu admitted the truth. Just then, Xiao Qi came to see his mother and jumped in through the window. He saw his mother tied up on the sofa and was about to untie her, but Jia Manfu attacked him from behind and knocked him unconscious. Jia Manfu then tied Xiao Qi up and took him to the kitchen, turning on the gas stove, intending to kill him. Afterwards, Jia Manfu decided to drive to Yanzhong Village to dig up Banjie's remains, fearing that if the police found them, his past crime would be exposed.
To his surprise, as soon as he had dug up Banjie's remains, he was surrounded by the police. It was then that he realized Wang Shitu had been acting all along, just for this moment. In fact, Wang Shitu had never had the thought of betraying his police uniform. His earlier performance had been noticed by the chief and Qin Yong, who had decided to let Jia Manfu expose his own flaws as part of their plan. Their strategy had worked.
Jia Manfu was arrested, and he told Wang Shitu to hurry to his house, as it was a matter of life and death. Wang Shitu realized the urgency and rushed there, with Qin Yong sending someone to accompany him. Fortunately, Wang Shitu arrived in time and saved Bian Meizhen and Xiao Qi.
While Xiao Qi was unconscious, Wang Shitu stayed by his side, deeply concerned about the boy's well-being. When Xiao Qi woke up and went to see Bian Meizhen, he told a white lie, saying he was Banjie, a friend of Xiao Qi's, and that Bian Meizhen had been missing him, so he had come back.
In fact, Bian Meizhen already knew the boy was not her real son, but she was willing to accept this child who resembled her son.
