Episode 2 recap: Wang Shi Tu and Bian Jie officially met.

Ever since Bian Jie's disappearance, Bian Mei Zhen had become mentally unstable, with her condition fluctuating. Every day after school, she would come to the school to pick up Bian Jie, carrying an umbrella, because it was raining the day her son went missing, and her memory had been stuck on that day. Jin Man Fu brought his son and daughter to the school to find Bian Mei Zhen, and Bian Jie, seeing his mother in this state, felt deeply saddened and guilty. So he secretly entered the school and then pretended to be leaving after school, and when Bian Mei Zhen saw her son at that moment, she was extremely surprised - after all these years, she was finally able to pick him up at the school gates.

The family was finally reunited. Bian Mei Zhen prepared a sumptuous dinner, but Bian Jie seemed to have lost his memory of his childhood, even forgetting that he didn't like to eat chicken skin, until Jin Man Fu reminded him to tear it off before eating. Bian Jie's sister Yanzi sat quietly, deep in thought.

Wang Shi Tu had never given up searching for his son Doudou all these years, and had followed many leads, traveling far to look for the child. When he saw the child, he knew immediately that it was not Doudou - after so many years, he could tell at a glance whether it was his own child or not, so he did not bother with a DNA test.

With Bian Jie's return to the family, Bian Mei Zhen found his old favorite clothes, and Yanzi cut and washed his hair just like before. But as she was washing his hair, she suddenly froze, and when Bian Jie asked what was wrong, Yanzi said she had remembered something from their childhood. Bian Jie went out as his father had instructed to buy sunflower seeds for his mother, but on the way he encountered Huang Mao again, and ran away with Huang Mao chasing him. Fortunately, halfway, Bian Jie ran into Wang Shi Tu, and when asked why he was running, he lied that he was just exercising.

Wang Shi Tu greeted Bian Jie and explained his purpose, saying he would like to visit their home to learn more about the situation, and Bian Jie led them back home.

However, Wang Shi Tu found it strange that Bian Jie was running while holding something, so he quickly scanned the surroundings, though he didn't see anything unusual, he still had some doubts.

Wang Shi Tu inquired about the situation back then. He and Du Yi and Wang Shuai were leaving the game arcade, preparing to go home for dinner, when they saw someone's wallet drop ahead of them. Du Yi wanted to do a good deed, so he picked up the wallet and returned it to the owner. As a gesture of gratitude, the owner took them to a restaurant for a meal, though Wang Shi Tu couldn't remember the name of the restaurant. After eating and drinking, they became close like brothers, but soon after they all passed out, and Wang Shi Tu suspected the drinks had been drugged.

Bian Jie admitted there were some things he could no longer recall. Wang Shi Tu asked him why he didn't report it to the police after escaping the den of thieves, and Bian Jie said he was too afraid and just wanted to start a new life.

When the family went to the night market, Bian Jie was spotted by Wang Shuai's sister Jia Jia, and on their way home, they encountered Wang Shuai's mother and sister, as well as Uncle Du, Du Yi's father, at their doorstep. They also wanted to understand what had happened all those years ago, but Bian Jie stuck to his story about being sold to the riverbank, and not knowing what happened to Wang Shuai and Du Yi.

That night, Bian Mei Zhen went into Bian Jie's room and saw he was still awake, so she took out a nail clipper to trim his nails. Bian Jie reminisced about his time as a drifter, and the "brothers" he had known then, wondering what his mother must have gone through. He felt a sense of unreality that she was now right before him.

Wang Shi Tu couldn't sleep, and in Bian Jie's room he found a pair of shoes with significantly different sizes. Jin Man Fu was also having trouble sleeping, and he and Yanzi were puzzled about whether they could trust the details of Wang Shuai and Du Yi's families. Jin Man Fu said it didn't matter, as long as the police believed it.
