Episode 5 recap: Tan Jing Tian becomes the insect expert consultant for the police department.

Combining the insects found in Jira's room, Tan Jing Tian went to the police station and presented his analysis to everyone. The lizard found in the room was a Texas horned lizard, which is a natural enemy of the Maricopa harvester ant. Based on the state of Jira's death, he analyzed that there should have been hundreds of ants in his room to attack and kill him, but they only found a few. This means there are two possibilities - either the ants flew away because it was their swarming season, or they were eaten by the horned lizard.

Through this analysis, Tan Jing Tian believes Jira's death was not an accident, but a premeditated murder. He told everyone that while the Maricopa harvester ant and the horned lizard are natural enemies, the presence of the lizard would actually excite the ants and cause them to release more pheromones and toxins. Therefore, he believes the lizard was either present at the same time as the ants, or even earlier, in Jira's room.

Captain Cha is very satisfied with Tan Jing Tian's performance and starts to appreciate and trust him. Detective De, however, is still unsure about Tan Jing Tian's credibility, as he was also a suspect in Jira's death case.

But based on his instinct and experience, Captain Cha believes Tan Jing Tian is not involved. Tan Jing Tian originally wanted to hide the fact that Liu Xiao Yu had argued with Jira, but after consideration, he told Jin Ling about it. Jin Ling hopes Tan Jing Tian will truthfully explain this to the police without any reservations, as they will uncover the truth.

Persuaded by Jin Ling, Tan Jing Tian went to explain the situation to Captain Cha and Detective De. They believe Liu Xiao Yu may have committed suicide after killing Jira, as the traffic footage showed his abnormal state at the time of the incident. However, Tan Jing Tian insists that his senior would not have committed suicide.

As they were discussing the case, they received another missing person report - a 30-year-old woman this time. Captain Cha instructed Detective De to contact the forensic team to go to the scene, and from now on, Tan Jing Tian will also be involved in the case investigation, as Captain Cha has applied for him to serve as the insect expert consultant.

Detective De is not happy that Tan Jing Tian will be working with them. Tan Jing Tian hopes Captain Cha will not tell Liu Xiao Yu's parents about him being a suspect, as the old couple just lost their son and Tan Jing Tian doesn't want to give them another blow. Captain Cha promises to keep it from them, and Tan Jing Tian is grateful that he can understand his feelings.

Captain Cha, Tan Jing Tian, and the team go to the missing girl's home to look for clues. The missing girl is called Su Pan, and she is a tattoo artist who specializes in butterfly designs. They find a photo of a butterfly tattoo she had done for a client, and it is very similar to the one on the previous female victim's body. Captain Cha immediately instructs Detective De to send the photo to Jin Ling for comparison.

Back at the police station, Detective De and Captain Cha have an unpleasant discussion, as De doesn't want to trust Tan Jing Tian too much, since he was involved in Jira's case, and the original reporter in the Sha Chu case turned out to be the murderer.

In the case discussion meeting, they analyze that Su Pan was a very traditional girl without any bad habits, so the butterfly tattoo on her arm, which was not as technically perfect as her usual work, was likely done by her boyfriend, as the butterfly symbolizes love.
