Episode 25 recap: Tan Jing Tian determined that Prince Rama's death was a suicide.
The detectives began analyzing the video footage, but they had many unanswered questions. Why did Prince Rama get into a conflict with Mario, and why didn't Mario report the threat? Jin Ling always trusted Mario since he was a forensic scientist and unlikely to engage in unlawful activities, but now there were too many unexplained details.
Det brought the news that Lanya had also been killed, which made the detectives very angry. These were good girls who had been tragically murdered, and now Mario was a prime suspect. Following Det's orders, Ka brought Mario in for questioning at the station. Despite Ka's hesitation, he proceeded as Det commanded.
One had to admit, Mario handled the situation well. Det presented a lot of evidence against him, but Mario refuted it all and denied killing Prince Rama. Tan Jing Tian indeed found an ant nest at the scene, but there were only a few ants inside. Based on the distance between the ant nest and the location of the syringe, Tan Jing Tian used her expertise to analyze that Prince Rama most likely committed suicide. In entomology, there is a phenomenon called the "ant circle," where ants will walk in a circular pattern if their normal activities are disrupted. Once a few ants start, more and more will join until they form a complete circle, never stopping. Given the evidence at the scene, it was likely that Prince Rama used this ant circle behavior to drag the syringe several meters away from himself, and since the syringe was not buried deeply, it was likely the work of the ants.
Det analyzed that Prince Rama had staged his death to look like a murder, in order to have the police discover the cufflink in his possession. However, as for how Prince Rama knew about the ant circle theory, that was something Tan Jing Tian could not explain. Since Prince Rama's death was a suicide, Mario's suspicion could be cleared. With the captain pressing them to release Mario, Det had no choice but to arrange for his release.
However, Det still harbored some doubt about Mario. As Mario left, Det purposefully knocked over a chair, causing it to hit Mario's right foot. While Mario was removing his shoe to rub his foot, Det observed that Mario had a small toe, which did not match the description of the suspect.
Back at the forensics lab, Mario's hallucinations were worsening. He even saw Jin Ling as one of the victims, which puzzled Jin Ling greatly.
