Episode 8 recap: Lin Mengchen went on her first mission.
When Lin Mengchen returned home, she sat on the swing and reminisced about her childhood. Ye Xiaosheng became her brother again, pushing her on the swing and giving her a kiss as a greeting. Lin Mengchen shyly ran back to her room to sleep. Ye Xiaosheng comforted himself, believing that Lin Mengchen and Qiao Mei couldn't be the same person. Lin Mengchen received escape training from Ye Xiaosheng. He criticized her drawing skills and she overheard him praising his sister's drawing skills, which made her feel sweet inside. However, to hide her true abilities, she intentionally drew poorly, which made Ye Xiaosheng a bit anxious. He warned her that if she continued to deviate, she would have to practice punching bag for an extra hour. Thinking about her sore arms, Lin Mengchen frowned and took the opportunity to find Qi Zeyu, hoping he could help relieve her pain.
Qi Zeyu was worried about Lin Mengchen's safety, so he sold his favorite record player and watch and bought a handgun to give to Lin Mengchen, hoping it would keep her safe. Lin Mengchen was unwilling to accept such a precious gift and honestly told him that she couldn't fall in love with him. However, Qi Zeyu only wanted her to be safe, and in the end, Lin Mengchen accepted the handgun.
The Blood Altar received a mission that required Ye Xiaosheng and Lin Mengchen to work together. They disguised themselves as a married couple and killed the criminals involved in the drug trade. Lin Mengchen was terrified as it was her first time taking a life, and her hands trembled uncontrollably. Ye Xiaosheng comforted her and, at her request, held her in his arms to provide solace.
