Episode 1 recap: Ye Xiaosheng (played by Gao Yiren) saved Lin Mengchen from a forced marriage.
Ye Xiaosheng is the top killer of the Blood Sacrifice Hall. One day, he received a mission to kill an unjust businessman named Huang. When he kicked open the doors of the Huang family, they happened to be in the middle of a ghost wedding ceremony. Without hesitation, Ye Xiaosheng immediately started a massacre. After completing his mission and preparing to leave, he heard knocking sounds coming from a coffin. When he turned back to investigate, he discovered Lin Mengchen inside the coffin.
Knowing that Lin Mengchen had nowhere else to go, Ye Xiaosheng took her in. They treated each other as siblings, and in no time, Lin Mengchen grew up under Ye Xiaosheng's care. One day, Ye Xiaosheng accompanied Lin Mengchen to school, and they made plans to go and see the lanterns together in Ping Bridge at night. As the night fell, Ye Xiaosheng deliberately brought Lin Mengchen's favorite osmanthus cake and stood on the bridge waiting for her. When he heard her calling out to him, he couldn't help but smile. He watched her happily eating and showered her with affection. While they were strolling around, people mistook them for a young married couple, which made Lin Mengchen shy and run away. Ye Xiaosheng accepted a toy doll given by a vendor and chased after her.
Lin Mengchen, originally named Yuemeng, wanted to watch the fireworks, but when she saw a kite in the sky, she quickly found an excuse to meet Cao Fang. Ye Xiaosheng also received a signal and immediately rushed back to the Blood Sacrifice Hall to capture Cao Fang and investigate the truth behind the annihilation of the Lin family. It turned out that Lin Mengchen was originally called Yuemeng and was the daughter of the Lin family. When Cao Fang's daughter died on the day of the Lin family massacre, she survived by assuming the identity of Lin Mengchen.
Ye Xiaosheng confronted Cao Fang at the door, and Lin Mengchen heard the sound of the fight. She immediately clung to Ye Xiaosheng, allowing Cao Fang to escape.
