Episode 35 recap: The Truth of Qi Wu Ji's Corruption.
When everyone emerged from the heart of the Demon Emperor, they finally learned that it was Qi Wu Ji who had killed the Great Mountain God. It was because of him that the Dark Sea had spread, making him the culprit. Furthermore, the well-known truth was all a lie, deceiving people for over five hundred years. Moreover, the Peak Valley being the birthplace of demons was also a fabrication.
Qi Xiao Xuan and the others were curious about what Qi Wu Ji had experienced inside the cave that had turned this kind-hearted person into such a ferocious being. Bai Hu, in fact, didn't know the exact details of what had happened, but at that time, the people and sacred beasts seemed to have their memories wiped away overnight by Qi Wu Ji, forgetting everything that had happened before. The story of Qi Wu Ji slaying the demons had been passed down by those who returned from the mainland.
Hu Zi now knew that there were no evil demons in the world; it was all a deception by Qi Wu Ji. Bai Hu told everyone that there was no distinction between good and evil demons; it was only the gradual deterioration of people's hearts that led to such phenomena. Bai Hu informed them that in order to destroy the heart of the Demon Emperor, they needed to find the Golden Vajra. However, the Golden Vajra was now in Qi Wu Ji's hands, which explained his increased power.
Bai Hu could only temporarily suppress the restlessness of the Demon Emperor's heart with her own power. To completely resolve this calamity, Hu Zi and his companions would need to continue searching for the truth. Eventually, Bai Hu's essence depleted, leaving her weak. She told Hu Zi that the blood of the gods flowed within his body and urged him to live well, seek the truth, and save the people from calamity.
Hu Zi couldn't bear to see his mother disappear before him once again, and he burst into tears of sorrow.
Qi Wu Ji has successfully transformed into a demonic being and is seeking the lives of Hu Zi and his companions. Qi Xiao Xuan informs everyone that Qi Wu Ji has sworn allegiance to Zuo Zhao, the Eternal Ancestor, and can never leave the Peak Valley. However, he requires the hearts of the Qi family's twins to break the curse and escape. Upon learning that everyone knows the truth, Qi Wu Ji doesn't appear surprised but rather laughs happily. He transforms into various forms, including a pack of wolves, and attempts to take their lives. However, there is still a power gap between humans and demons. The humans suffer severe injuries, and Qi Wu Ji effortlessly defeats them, using the Golden Vajra skillfully. He captures Qi Xiao Xuan and Hu Zi, intending to silence them permanently. Wang Yu Qian seizes the opportunity to stab Qi Wu Ji from behind with a knife, but Qi Wu Ji retaliates, knocking Wang Yu Qian to the ground. Qi Xiao Xuan is also on the verge of dispersing when Zhao Xin Tong arrives just in time.
Qi Xiao Xuan and Hu Zi are saddened to see Wang Yu Qian heavily injured. Wang Yu Qian knew that her mission in coming here was to sacrifice her life to save others, as Qi Ling Shen had planted the lotus flower inside her own body.
Xiao Yun Zi sees the lotus flower and realizes that Wang Yu Qian has departed. This boosts the morale of the group as they prepare to slay the demon.
Zhao Xin Tong, injured by Qi Wu Ji, hands the Golden Vajra to Hu Zi in a critical moment. In her final moments, she entrusts the seed to Hu Zi, urging him to plant it in front of the courtyard and become a towering tree. With that, Zhao Xin Tong also departs, leaving a significant impact on Hu Zi.
Qi Xiao Xuan is unable to rise after being struck by Qi Wu Ji. Finally, Hu Zi becomes furious, witnessing Qi Wu Ji devouring Qi Xiao Xuan's heart with no means to stop him. Qi Xiao Xuan awakens in a dream, summoned by feathers, and encounters the Great Mountain God. The Great Mountain God informs Qi Xiao Xuan that they have broken the curse. Upon awakening, Qi Xiao Xuan joins Hu Zi in battling Qi Wu Ji. Qi Wu Ji realizes that he is not responsible for the twin curse, and these people have no understanding of the true catastrophe. Although Qi Wu Ji is severely injured, he remains determined.
The demons vanish momentarily, but Qi Wu Ji's resentment engulfs the entire Peak Valley. He believes that to end this karmic cycle, they must enter his body and find the source of this evil thought. Hu Zi and Qi Xiao Xuan discover that when Qi Wu Ji was a child, he was actually a twin, but the other twin was disabled, and their mother died soon after their birth. Everyone considered the disabled twin to be an ill omen.
However, Qi Wu Ji cared deeply for his brother and secretly brought him food.
