Episode 16 recap: Yi Mei and Zhi Xie's conspiracy was discovered.
While Qi Xiao Xuan was examining a case, a person suddenly rushed in, babbling incoherently. They reported that another demon master was killing people on the street. Qi Xiao Xuan quickly grabbed their sword and went to the scene. The street was in chaos, with the demon masters relentlessly killing civilians, and screams filled the air.
Suddenly, Wang Wen's expression changed, and they turned around and attacked Qi Xiao Xuan with a sword. Qi Xiao Xuan killed Wang Wen with one strike. As Wang Wen was dying, they kept muttering something, but Qi Xiao Xuan couldn't make out what they were saying.
Hu Zi's clothes were already torn, and Zhao Xin Tong tried to mend them but ended up tearing them further. The three of them were busy and didn't have time to eat. Neither of them knew how to cook. However, Hu Zi quickly prepared the meal, and Zhao Xin Tong and Wang Yu Qian hesitated to eat it, thinking it might be poisonous. They hastily left, believing the food was toxic.
Hu Zi saw their old friends who came looking for them and informed them that all the demon masters in the city were killing people, and all the monsters had disappeared. The authorities had covered up the news, causing the current panic, and even the neighboring country might fall because of it. The group believed that Qi Xiao Xuan had injured Hu Zi out of necessity to protect them.
Mrs. Qi (Old lady) also heard about the events from yesterday and thought her grandson did the right thing. She believed the current situation was extremely dire, with hidden enemies and open confrontation. Qi Xiao Xuan realized that to investigate Yi Mei, they needed to find someone who knew about past events. Mrs. Qi (Old lady) and Qi Xiao Xuan sought out Zhi Xie to gather more information.

Hu Zi believed that Qi Yan Ran was up to something sinister. Qi Xiao Xuan appreciated Hu Zi's concern, but when he asked about Wang Wen's catchphrase, he gained no useful information. Qi Xiao Xuan quietly left when he heard Hu Zi cursing at him. Hu Zi felt it was time to enter the Yan Luo Temple.
Mrs. Qi (Old lady) saw Xi Men Miao Miao asking about Mo Gu Zi and pretended not to know. Mrs. Qi (Old lady) suspected that Xi Men Miao Miao was hiding something.
Mrs. Qi (Old lady) found Mo Gu Zi's body, and Mo Gu Zi told her that Zhi Xie and Yi Mei were the masterminds. Mrs. Qi (Old lady) felt the situation was becoming dangerous, and Mo Gu Zi swore to avenge Xi Men Miao Miao.
