Episode 17 recap: Hu Zi bravely enters the Yan Luo Hall.
The eunuch was tasked with finding Qi Zi Lu but had been waiting for half an hour without anyone showing up. Qi Zi Lu hurriedly arrived, apologizing to Liu Gong Gong. The eunuch declared that Qi Zi Lu should take two demon masters to protect the Emperor while leaving Di Sha behind to investigate the matter. Qi Zi Lu wanted to decline, but the eunuch was dissatisfied with Qi Zi Lu's attitude.
Feeling threatened by the eunuch, Qi Zi Lu had no choice but to agree. Mrs. Qi (Old lady) sensed that a big conspiracy was brewing and found it difficult to move against Zhi Xie. Qi Xiao Xuan also thought the situation was tricky and believed it would be better to start with Yi Mei.

Elder found Yi Mei and relentlessly questioned her. Yi Mei firmly believed that she had done nothing wrong and refused to defend herself. Elder thought Yi Mei had come to her senses, but Yi Mei felt that she couldn't turn back and returned Elder's master's spiritual power to him. Qi Yan Ran saw Yi Mei wanting to make a deal with her but was certain that she wouldn't join her side. However, she was threatened. When Qi Yan Ran heard that her grandmother could be subdued, she felt inclined to give it a try.
Yi Mei wanted to know Mrs. Qi's whereabouts and planned to kill her. Qi Yan Ran informed Wu Li Dan about her agreement with Yi Mei and asked him to join her plan and help her kill her own grandmother.
Hu Zi saw Zhao Xin Tong struggling while catching fish and wanted to help, but they ended up having physical contact, making both of them uncomfortable. Zhao Xin Tong was disgusted by the odor on Hu Zi and he went home to take a bath. Wang Yu Qian found it strange that Hu Zi cared about such things.
Qi Xiao Xuan witnessed the plight of the people and wanted to set up a porridge shop to help them through the difficult times. Qi Xiao Xuan and Mrs. Qi went to a secret room to find evidence against Zhi Xie. The forbidden books had been tampered with, and when Zhi Xie saw his subordinate coming to test him, he felt that he must have been discovered. However, he pretended not to enter the secret room.
Hu Zi felt that he needed to go to the Ghost Market to find what he was looking for. He noticed that the demon masters were robbing people and felt that something was amiss. He discovered that someone was impersonating a demon master. Mrs. Qi didn't get the answers she wanted and Zhi Xie had already killed the person. Hu Zi really wanted Zhao Xin Tong to catch a chicken to improve their meals. While Hu Zi was sleeping, someone choked him. They followed the suspect and discovered a secret passage and Zhi Xie's secrets. Hu Zi watched Zhi Xie perform those spells and remembered that Zhi Xie had killed his mother when he was young. Qi Xiao Xuan panicked when she realized that Hu Zi and the others were missing and went to find them, only to discover that Zhi Xie was up to something.
Zhi Xie was discovered but remained calm, feeling that it was only natural. He believed that the people around him had changed, and Qi Xiao Xuan found his mindset twisted.
