Episode 9 recap: Zeng Ji Wu gave Ou Xiao An electric shocks.
Wei Qing Ming personally interrogated Ando, but Miao Jiang was unable to make any progress. Ando answered Wei Qing Ming's questions truthfully and without concealment, believing that this was part of the meticulous scheme of Daibridge, including the fake deaths of him and Ou Xiao An. Daibridge conducted live experiments on prisoners in a Burmese prison for the sake of continuing the Falling Cherry Blossom plan, letting the prisoners die as appropriate.
Hearing this, Wei Qing Ming became furious and grabbed Ando by the neck, nearly killing him. Ou Xiao An suggested to Mao Ren Xing that he help find the mole within the Military Statistics Bureau. Mao Ren Xing said he had it backwards - it was the Military Statistics Bureau that was interrogating him, asking about his purpose for returning.
Ou Xiao An insisted that they interrogate Li Shao Tang, and learned that the Military Statistics Bureau had captured Ando, bringing back unpleasant memories. Captain Liu used a lie detector to question Li Shao Tang repeatedly, asking if he was a communist, and Li Shao Tang insisted that he was not. Ando told Wei Qing Ming everything he knew, including how he was held in the 810 prison arranged by Daibridge, using Chinese prisoners as research subjects. Ando took pride in Daibridge's scheme, saying the fake deaths were for the Falling Cherry Blossom plan, and that the Chinese prisoners deserved to die.
Hearing this, the furious Wei Qing Ming grabbed Ando's neck and berated him for using Japanese people for the experiments instead. He learned that Daibridge had developed vaccines and viruses with high infectiousness and lethality, more terrifying than yellow and red bombs. Li Shao Tang became angry at the questioning, so Captain Liu asked him to rest, having noticed fluctuations in his lie detector responses. Deputy Captain Xu suggested that she report this to Feng Yu Nian.
Qin Mo Qing overheard their conversation. Captain Liu returned to the interrogation room and questioned Li Shao Tang again, repeatedly mentioning Lou Ming Yuan and the communists. Li Shao Tang accidentally mentioned Chongqing, which Captain Liu had not brought up, so Li Shao Tang tried to claim he had simply been to Chongqing before. When asked about escorting the Falling Cherry Blossom plan, Li Shao Tang became lost in memory, recalling how he had been chased by the Japanese military to a restroom, ready to burn the Falling Cherry Blossom plan, when Wang Sen arrived in time to eliminate the Japanese and allow the two to go their separate ways, with the plan entrusted to Wang Sen.
Li Shao Tang snapped out of it, only accusing Ou Xiao An of having pro-Japanese tendencies.
Ando recognized Lou Ming Yuan and others, who had all been subjected to truth serum, but were executed since they had no research value. Wei Qing Ming threatened Ando that he would use truth serum on him, and Ando felt he had been deceived.
Mao Ren Xing was suspicious, believing only Ou Xiao An came back alive. Ou Xiao An cleared his thoughts, recalling that years ago the Bridge wanted his brain's Falling Cherry Blossom plan, and staged a fake death incident, planting a mole within the Military Statistics Bureau. Ou Xiao An recounted the evacuation mission, how he had sent Li Shao Tang onto a train, but instead of returning to Shanghai as planned, he went to rescue Lou Ming Yuan, who told him to save Ye Xuan Min first.
Ou Xiao An took the opportunity when the Japanese were distracted to rescue Ye Xuan Min, but fell into an ambush, with Zeng Ji Wu and the Bridge's troops guarding the escape route. Ou Xiao An was captured on the spot, and the Bridge authorized Zeng Ji Wu to interrogate him. Zeng Ji Wu tortured him severely, having suspected Ou Xiao An since the day the Bridge was assassinated, and seeing Ou Xiao An's unwavering will, used an electric chair to torment him.
Hearing the Falling Cherry Blossom plan manuscript was lost, the Bridge pretended to hospitably receive Ou Xiao An, had him cleansed, and brought to an office, demanding he rewrite the Falling Cherry Blossom plan. Ou Xiao An refused to obey, having no interest in the high official position and wealth the Bridge promised. Seeing Ou Xiao An unyielding, the Bridge used Lou Ming Yuan to threaten him.
Ou Xiao An pretended to comply, taking the opportunity to give Lou Ming Yuan a merciful end, not letting him suffer further. Mao Ren Xing thought Ou Xiao An was making up stories, not believing his words. Wei Qing Ming told him not to be too sensitive, and the urgent priority was to clarify Ou Xiao An's situation. Ou Xiao An requested to confront Ando, which Wen Yi Shan supported, wanting to see what Ou Xiao An had been through in these four years.
