Episode 2 recap: Ou Xiao An was diagnosed with partial amnesia.

Mao Ren Xing was arranged to stay at a Japanese camp, and when complaining about the rudimentary accommodations during washing up, he was taken hostage at gunpoint by Ou Xiao An. Ou Xiao An did not know where he was, and learned from Mao Ren Xing that it was 1945. Mao Ren Xing was scared and raised his hands to answer Ou Xiao An's questions. Voices searching for Ou Xiao An were heard outside, and Ou Xiao An stepped out, only to be aimed at by American soldiers. Qin Mo Qing rushed over to stop them and prepared to question Ou Xiao An.

Suddenly, Mao Ren Xing struck Ou Xiao An on the head from behind with a stick, causing Ou Xiao An to lose consciousness again. When he woke up, he found himself chained in irons, with vague memories flashing in his mind. Du Guo Lun came to interrogate him, but Ou Xiao An did not know how to respond, which angered Du Guo Lun and nearly resulted in Ou Xiao An's immediate execution.

Mao Ren Xing hurried over, having discovered Ou Xiao An's identity, and remembered that he was once the esteemed disciple of Wen Yi Shan. Qin Mo Qing was puzzled, as they all thought Ou Xiao An had been executed years ago, and requested to have the military police interrogate him. Ou Xiao An was unaware of the situation and did not recognize Da Qiao He Ye, becoming agitated and resisting, before being subdued.

Dr. Zheng suspected through X-ray examination that Ou Xiao An had suffered severe brain trauma resulting in his amnesia, but Mao Ren Xing thought Ou Xiao An was feigning ignorance. Qin Mo Qing wanted to know if Ou Xiao An could recover, but Dr. Zheng could not make a definitive assessment. Qin Mo Qing instructed Mao Ren Xing to send a telegram to headquarters to report Ou Xiao An's condition.

Mao Ren Xing was afraid of being scolded by his superiors and hoped that Qin Mo Qing would not tell them that he had injured Ou Xiao An. Dai Li's assistant Shen Cong Wu personally came to the military police station, and Wei Qing Ming learned from him that Ou Xiao An was still alive, which he found unbelievable as he had personally seen Miao Jiang kill Ou Xiao An.

On the Yunnan border, news of the completion of the Yunnan-Burma Road spread. Qin Mo Qing had Mao Ren Xing escort Ou Xiao An back to Chongqing, but since the vehicles could not pass, they had to walk. Ou Xiao An showed interest in the collection of writings by the Communist Party member Ye Xuan Min by the roadside, but Mao Ren Xing tore it up, accusing the vendor of spreading red culture.

Qin Mo Qing discovered that there were Japanese disguised as Burmese people by the roadside, and for safety reasons, had Mao Ren Xing and Ou Xiao An share a room. Li Shao Tang (played by Ma Si Chao), the head of the Military Police's Special Techniques Department, had captured Japanese poison gas grenades from the front lines, and Wei Qing Ming suspected the Japanese were continuing their Sakura Plan, hoping that Li Shao Tang could quickly investigate the Japanese 810 Plan.

Wen Yi Shan was shocked to find out that Ou Xiao An was still alive. Mao Ren Xing handcuffed Ou Xiao An and carefully examined the room, complaining about its simple furnishings. Qin Mo Qing took Ou Xiao An's blood pressure, wanting to help restore his memory.

Ou Xiao An recalled his fragmented memories and asked Qin Mo Qing to return the cloth strip in his pocket. Feng Yu Nian and Li Shao Tang did not believe that Ou Xiao An was still alive, and suspected that there was more to the story. He urged Li Shao Tang and Feng Jing Xian to get married soon, wanting to keep an eye on his future son-in-law.

They treated Ou Xiao An as a traitor of the Military Statistics Bureau, and Feng Yu Nian hoped that Li Shao Tang would keep it a secret from Feng Jing Xian. At night, Mao Ren Xing was interested in Ou Xiao An, having heard he was a legendary figure since he first joined the Military Statistics Bureau.

Ou Xiao An pretended to tell him about his past, and Mao Ren Xing listened intently, only to fall asleep as Ou Xiao An was talking. In the middle of the night, Qin Mo Qing woke up to noises downstairs. The Japanese had begun to move, wanting to kill Ou Xiao An, but he had already sensed it.

Mao Ren Xing was woken up by gunshots and saw Ou Xiao An fighting the Japanese. After dealing with the Japanese, Qin Mo Qing suggested they quickly return to Chongqing. Shen Cong Wu told Li Shao Tang to complete the task and report directly to Dai Li, and Wei Qing Ming, seeing their closeness, deliberately asked about Shen Cong Wu's instructions to his subordinates, dissatisfied that his superiors were bypassing him.

Li Shao Tang did not say anything, only blaming herself. Feng Jing Xian chose a wedding dress, still wanting the one she had picked when she was engaged to Ou Xiao An. Feng Yu Nian told her to choose another, not wanting to upset Li Shao Tang. Secretary Liu came to report Ou Xiao An's situation in Myanmar to Feng Yu Nian, and Feng Jing Xian was somewhat excited to hear that Ou Xiao An was still alive.

At night, she looked at the engagement photos with Ou Xiao An, feeling regretful. She recalled that 6 years ago, Ou Xiao An suddenly told her to cancel the wedding, as he had to leave Chongqing.
