Episode 8 recap: Li Shao Tang was requested to undergo a lie detector test.
Ou Xiao An recalled his memories, and while the guards were lax, he changed out of his hospital clothes and went out to find Li Shao Tang. Li Shaiie Tang was no match for Ou Xiao An, who only needed to retrieve the files hidden in the bookcase compartment. Ou Xiao An saw that these were nationwide air raid shelter deployment plans, and asked him about the intended use, as his military intelligence superior had asked him to investigate the mole and clear his name.
Li Shao Tang claimed to have no information to share, so Ou Xiao An pointed a gun at him. Ou Xiao An took Li Shao Tang hostage and made him retrieve the books from the hidden compartment, finding that the file folder contained nationwide air raid shelter plans. Li Shao Tang asked him the reason for his actions, but Ou Xiao An was only interested in him.
After obtaining the information, Ou Xiao An left, with Qin Mo Qing following closely behind. She saw Ou Xiao An enter an alley, but when she reached the end, he had disappeared. However, she saw his shadow on the ground, confirming it was him. Ou Xiao An knew she had been tailing him all day, and while Qin Mo Qing was curious about his identity, she was willing to trust him.
Ou Xiao An pointed a gun at Qin Mo Qing, warning her not to follow him anymore. Wang Qiu Shui had been absent from the shop for a long time because a female customer was dissatisfied, and Old Lin was responsible for explaining the work. Huo Da Ming saw the signal and went inside to meet with Wang Qiu Shui, informing her about the Communist forces' ambush in Yunnan-Burma. He knew the Japanese army's chemical weapons were extremely powerful, and was eager to utilize Li Shao Tang, believing him to be a biological warfare expert who had been involved in the Falling Cherry Blossom plan, which could compensate for the military's shortcomings.
Wang Qiu Shui was concerned about Huo Da Ming's safety and hoped he would investigate further before deploying Li Shao Tang. She knew the Japanese were planning to drop over 3,000 chemical weapon bombs within the country, but was unsure of the specific locations. When Feng Yu Nian returned to the office, Ou Xiao An was already waiting, and placed Li Shao Tang's classified documents on Feng Yu Nian's desk.
Ou Xiao An suspected that Li Shao Tang was helping the bridge project, as his work scope would not normally involve such classified materials, and the bridge wanted to find a suitable location to store the chemical weapons. When Huo Da Ming returned to the pharmacy, Li Shao Tang had come without permission and told him about stealing Ou Xiao An's codebook and documents, claiming he was participating in the Chongqing air raid shelter renovation project, which had been specially approved by military intelligence.
Huo Da Ming was concerned that Li Shao Tang's identity would be exposed, and also learned that Ou Xiao An was constantly targeting him, accusing him of being a Japanese spy everywhere. Li Shao Tang was worried that the Technical Department would use a lie detector on him, so Huo Da Ming told him to first go buy a new book as a replacement codebook.
Ou Xiao An hopes that Feng Yu Nian can uncover Li Shao Tang's background and ensure the safety of Feng Jing Xian. After providing the complete clues, Ou Xiao An actively requests to return to the Chongqing station. Huo Da is eager to make use of Li Shao Tang, not wanting to miss this biochemical expert. Wang Qiu Shui thinks he is too hasty and tells him not to mention Qin Mo Qing's identity. Ou Xiao An is taken back to the station, and Wei Qing Ming believes it is normal for Li Shao Tang to have blueprints, but Ou Xiao An says this is evidence proving that Li Shao Tang has been working for the bridge, and demands they investigate Li Shao Tang immediately.
Wei Qing Ming continues to take him back to the prison as a prisoner, and Ou Xiao An is unhappy about this. Wen Yi Shan speaks up for Ou Xiao An, which displeases Wei Qing Ming. Qin Mo Qing pretends to go to Wang Qiu Shui's shop to buy clothes, and the two exchange intelligence.
Wang Qiu Shui hopes she can discreetly inquire about Li Shao Tang's situation, worried that the military police will use a lie detector to test Li Shao Tang, which may expose his identity, even though he and Ou Xiao An have accused each other of being a spy. Until their identities are confirmed, they can only observe.
Li Shao Tang is dissatisfied that he is being investigated because of Ou Xiao An's accusation. He brings up the secret task given by his superior Shen Congwu, and strongly requests to confront Ou Xiao An directly. Feng Yu Nian advises him to stay calm, and Li Shao Tang believes his research on city defense and poison gas shells is inseparable, and his superior has required him to keep it secret.
Wei Qing Ming wants to go through the formalities and let him take a lie detector test, promising to do him justice. Milu sends a telegram, and the bridge learns that Ou Xiao An has lost his memory, and Ando has been captured by the Chongqing station. He demands that Tanaka eliminate Ando. Tanaka receives the order and instructs Miao Jiang to kill Ando.
Miao Jiang believes the station is investigating internal traitors, and killing Ando now would easily expose them. Li Shao Tang is hooked up to the lie detector, and Ou Xiao An and Ando are also arranged in other rooms. Qin Mo Qing eavesdrops on Li Shao Tang's test, and Mao Ren Xing comes to interrogate Ou Xiao An.
Miao Jiang is about to act against Ando when Wei Qing Ming suddenly shows up. Mao Ren Xing asks Ou Xiao An for evidence, but Ou Xiao An wants to see Li Shao Tang's file. Li Shao Tang repeatedly answers that he is not a communist.
