Episode 32 recap: Emperor Qing set up a scheme to have Wu Zhu and the envoy fight each other.

Lin Wan Er learns the truth about her brother Lin Gong being killed, and she is deeply saddened. On one hand, it is her beloved husband Fan Xian, on the other, her own blood brother. She would rather not know the truth her whole life. When Lin Wan Er finds out that Fan Xian wrote a letter to Hai Tang Duo Duo, she feels a pang of bitterness in her heart. Lin Wan Er takes the dagger Li Cheng Ze gave her and starts peeling fruit angrily, her hands shaking from the fury. Fan Xian notices she is troubled.

Lin Wan Er confronts Fan Xian, asking if he already knew that Lin Gong had plotted the assassination on Niu Lang Street. Fan Xian confesses that he did know, but he did not kill Lin Gong - he knows it was Wu Zhu who killed him, but he cannot reveal this. Lin Wan Er is deeply conflicted, torn between her beloved brother and her devoted husband. She would rather have Fan Xian lie to her and let her never know the truth. This is Fan Xian's dilemma, as he fears telling Lin Wan Er would force her into a painful choice.

The Queen's clan killed Ye Qing Mei, and Emperor Qing orders Fan Jian and Chen Ping Ping to eliminate the entire Queen's clan. From that day on, the Queen avoids seeing Emperor Qing. She learns that Fan Xian is the child of Ye Qing Mei and Emperor Qing, and goes to confess to Emperor Qing, begging him to strip her of her title as Queen and punish her.

Lin Wan Er deduces that Wu Zhu killed her brother Lin Gong, and wants to kill Wu Zhu to avenge him. Fan Xian tries to dissuade her, knowing she has no chance against a grandmaster like Wu Zhu. Lin Wan Er is determined to try, even at the cost of her life. She warns Fan Xian to beware of Li Cheng Ze, who told her this information. Lin Wan Er leaves in a huff, leaving Fan Xian heartbroken.

The Queen wants to go find Fan Xian and apologize before she dies. She suspects Li Yun Rui orchestrated the assassination attempt on Fan Xian at Guang Xin Palace, and begs Emperor Qing to punish Li Yun Rui, thereby severing Li Cheng Ze's backing and securing Li Cheng Qian's position as Crown Prince.

Fan Ruo Ruo overhears the conversation between Lin Wan Er and Fan Xian outside, and stays steadfastly by Fan Xian's side, worried that Wu Zhu may harm Lin Wan Er.

Emperor Qing did not agree to the Empress visiting Fan Xian, nor would he strip her of her title as Empress. The Empress was stubborn and insisted that Emperor Qing punish Li Yun Rui. Emperor Qing had long since realized that the Empress had plotted the assassination at Guangxin Palace, and then framed and implicated Li Yun Rui. Angered, the Empress turned and left, approaching the seemingly impenetrable armor that Emperor Qing had designed. Emperor Qing drew his bow and arrow, piercing the armor as a warning, causing the Empress to collapse in fear on the ground.

Emperor Qing invited Fan Xian to admire the flowers at the Suspended Temple, and had specially arranged for a lifelike effigy resembling Fan Xian to accompany him, using it to lure Wu Zhu. When Fan Jian learned that Fan Xian had left the city as bait, he was concerned for Fan Xian's safety and came to confront Chen Ping Ping, who reluctantly sought refuge with Fei Jie to avoid him.

Just as Emperor Qing had predicted, Wu Zhu had been secretly protecting Fan Xian's caravan the entire time. Suddenly, an emissary from the Temple appeared, mimicking Wu Zhu's attire and skills, and had been trailing Wu Zhu from Jiangnan, orchestrating a series of murders. He wanted to bring Wu Zhu and Ye Qingmei back to the Temple, but Ye Qingmei had already died, so the emissary sought to take Fan Xian, Ye Qingmei's son, instead. Wu Zhu, wanting to regain his lost memories, refused to let anyone harm Fan Xian, and engaged the emissary in a fierce battle that eventually reached the Suspended Temple. Emperor Qing's guards surrounded and attempted to shoot them down, but they miraculously remained unharmed.

After a prolonged struggle, Wu Zhu and the emissary were both severely wounded, but Wu Zhu managed to impale the emissary and escape. At the Suspended Temple, Emperor Qing showed Fan Xian the only portrait of his mother, Ye Qingmei, whose resolute and captivating presence matched the descriptions given by Fan Jian and Chen Ping Ping. Seeing his mother's true likeness for the first time, Fan Xian was deeply moved and speechless.

The guards brought the emissary's body back to Emperor Qing, who discovered that it was not flesh and blood, and ordered it to be burned. Afterward, Emperor Qing took Fan Xian to visit the flower fields that Ye Qingmei had loved, and told him stories about her life.
