Episode 28 recap: Emperor Qing notified Fan Xian to attend the chrysanthemum viewing event.

Fei Jie was ordered to go to the Jiangnan region to track down a serial killer. He followed the killer's trail but lost him, so he had to return to the capital to report back. Fan Xian came to see Fei Jie, and Fei Jie suspected that the killer was Wu Zhu. Wu Zhu took out the box left behind by Ye Qingmei and showed it to Fan Ruoruo. Inside was a sniper rifle. Knowing that Fan Ruoruo cares most about Fan Xian, Wu Zhu taught her how to use the gun so that she could protect Fan Xian in critical moments. Wu Zhu also told Fan Ruoruo to keep it a secret from Fan Xian, and she readily agreed. Wu Zhu said he would fix up the gun and then teach Fan Ruoruo more, so she immediately started practicing her aim.

Fan Xian and his brother Fan Sizhe brainwashed the bosses of various businesses in the capital, encouraging them to buy treasury bonds, and invited them to stay overnight at Dadongshan. The bosses couldn't make the decision on their own, so they used carrier pigeons to relay the message to their bosses behind the scenes in the capital. Fan Sizhe intercepted one of the pigeons, realizing that they had reported this to the capital, though he didn't fully understand the legality of the treasury bond matter.

News of Fan Xian issuing treasury bonds spread throughout the capital overnight. When Emperor Qing learned of this late at night, he summoned Fan Jian, Chen Pingping, Li Chengqian, and Li Chengze to the palace.

Fan Jian felt that Fan Xian's actions of apportioning the treasury's losses to the major businesses violated the laws of Nanqing. He asked Chen Pingping to have Fan Xian brought back, then went to see Emperor Qing and offered to resign to retire to Danzhou. Li Chengqian stood up for Fan Xian, saying he had never heard of treasury bonds and the Nanqing laws didn't have specific clauses to punish Fan Xian's actions.

Emperor Qing never showed up in person, instead sending Hou Gong to have Fan Xian, Chen Pingping, Li Chengqian, and Li Chengze go to the back garden to move flowers. They were very puzzled but dared not disobey, so they obediently carried out the order.

In the back garden, there was a large patch of chrysanthemums. Emperor Qing had them transplant all the chrysanthemums into pots to be displayed at the triennial chrysanthemum viewing event. Li Chengqian, Li Chengze, and Fan Jian, who were normally pampered, had never done such strenuous physical labor before, and they soon became breathless from the exertion.

Hou Gong revealed that the chrysanthemum viewing event would be held earlier this year, and would have to wait until Fan Xian returned from Cangshan. Li Chengze felt very resentful, as Emperor Qing cared so much about the chrysanthemum viewing event, but even more about Fan Xian. Chen Pingping, being in a wheelchair, couldn't participate in the physical labor, but she observed that Emperor Qing was secretly watching them through the window.

Sure enough, Chen Pingping's guess was correct - Emperor Qing was closely monitoring their every move. When Fan Xian returned to his residence, he found that the box he had hidden under his bed was missing. Only a few people knew about that box, but Fan Xian couldn't figure out who had stolen it.

Suddenly, Wang Qinian saw someone eavesdropping outside the window. He shouted, and Fan Xian opened the door to see a black figure jump onto the roof and flee. Thinking it was the thief, Fan Xian gave chase without hesitation. The agile black-clad person led Fan Xian deep into the woods, where Jing Ge with his Black Riders blocked their path, revealing the black-clad person to be Yingzi, and the one chasing him was their teacher Fei Jie.

Fei Jie and Fan Xian had not seen each other for a long time, and their excitement overflowed as the teacher and disciple tightly embraced, not knowing where to start their many words. Ying Zi was eager to spar with Wu Zhu, so he secretly followed Fan Xian to Cangshan. He suspected that Wu Zhu had stolen the box, and he knew that Fan Xian had received Wu Zhu's true teachings, so he wanted to challenge Fan Xian. Fei Jie firmly refused, saying that if Ying Zi dared to touch Fan Xian, he would poison him. Ying Zi did not dare to provoke Fei Jie and had to leave in disappointment.

Fei Jie went to the south to investigate a serial murder case. He analyzed that the killer was a high-level master, imitating Wu Zhu's techniques in an attempt to frame him. Fei Jie had to rush back to the capital to thoroughly investigate this person. Before leaving, he gave Fan Xian the medicinal pills he had personally concocted to treat tuberculosis, hoping that Fan Xian and Lin Wan Er would soon give him a grandchild.

When Fan Xian returned to his residence, Wu Zhu had been waiting for him. Wu Zhu took Fan Xian to retrieve the three bullets left behind by Leaf Qingmei and revealed a secret. Wu Zhu and Leaf Qingmei both came from the temple, and they had secretly come to this world. The temple would send people to destroy everything that transcended this world. Although Fan Xian lives in this era, he is a logical loophole. Wu Zhu told Fan Xian to go to the south and find the Three Major Workshops to fix the gun, using the remaining three bullets to protect his life.

The Three Major Workshops are the foundation of the internal treasury. All the novel and special items in the world come from here, and they are now under the control of the Ming family in the south, who have become wealthy beyond measure because of the Three Major Workshops. The Ming family is also the direct lineage of Li Yun Rui. Fan Xian immediately decided to find time to go to the south and reclaim the Three Major Workshops that belong to Leaf Qingmei. He was curious why Leaf Qingmei did not put the gun and bullets together, but Wu Zhu only told Fan Xian to go to the Three Major Workshops to fix the gun, without caring about other matters.

Emperor Qing sent someone to notify Fan Xian to return to the capital to attend the Chrysanthemum Appreciation Festival. The business owners realized that Emperor Qing highly valued Fan Xian and were convinced that the treasury bonds he issued would not lose money, so they rushed to purchase them. The 20 million treasury bonds were quickly sold out.

However, Fan Xian was not happy about this. He had carefully prepared for so long without any progress, but now Emperor Qing's single word had completely turned the situation around. The business owners did not truly understand the benefits of the treasury bonds, but only had confidence in the country's wealth. Fan Xian had planned to take Lin Wan Er to Cangshan for a good time, but Emperor Qing asked them to return for the Chrysanthemum Appreciation Festival, which he deeply regretted. However, Lin Wan Er did not mind and comforted him.

Fan Xian wants to attend the Chrysanthemum Appreciation Festival and then take Lin Wan Er to the south to explore the traces left by his mother, Leaf Qingmei. Lin Wan Er readily agreed. Fei Jie stood on the mountain top, seeing Lin Wan Er and Fan Xian's loving affection, and felt deeply content. Suddenly, someone from behind knocked Fei Jie to the ground.

Fan Si Zhe saw that the treasury bonds had sold out quickly, and he had a bold idea to open a shop in North Qi to engage in money exchange. Fan Xian supported his decision. Fan Xian's group left Cangshan and returned to the capital, with Jing Ge and the Black Riders escorting them. Gong Dian, leading the Imperial Guards, later caught up and was ordered to take Fan Xian alone to the Suspended Temple.

The Suspended Temple was built atop a high mountain, with only a winding path leading to the top. It was a dangerous and easily defensible location, the traditional place for the emperor to appreciate flowers. Gong Dian had the Imperial Guards remove the chrysanthemers from the horses, and asked Fan Xian to personally deliver the flowers to the Suspended Temple.
