Episode 5 recap: Behind the Pampering.
After Mu Xuan Jue arrived, he saw Ling Zhi's true form, and he raised his knife, intending to stab her. Mu Xuan Jue then recalled that six years ago, he and Ling Zhi had fallen in love, and he had promised to return to his mother to ask for her hand in marriage. They had embraced and kissed under a tree, and the Ling Zhi before him was indeed Shuo Ye, but she did not recognize him.
Ling Zhi suddenly woke up to find herself lying on a bed, feeling that the events of the previous night were strangely familiar. After inquiring with the maidservant, Ling Zhi learned that Mu Xuan Jue had indeed come, and she was worried, not knowing if he had seen her true form. Mu Xuan Jue went to his mother's tombstone and said that he had found the Shuo Ye Princess who killed her, and he would uncover the truth to comfort his mother's soul.
Mu Xuan Jue deliberately used a scalding hot kettle to test Ling Zhi, and when he saw her injured, he wanted to apply the ointment from the previous night to her wound, but Ling Zhi wanted to refuse. Mu Xuan Jue held the ointment, and Ling Zhi knew that he had indeed discovered her true identity.
Mu Xuan Jue said that he had seen Ling Zhi collapse on the ground the previous night, and he had been worried for a long time, and if she did not cherish her body, he would have to punish her. Afterwards, Mu Xuan Jue even drew a portrait of Ling Zhi's disguise from back then, but he found that Ling Zhi seemed to have forgotten what had happened.
After leaving, Ling Zhi was still wondering if Mu Xuan Jue had recognized her identity from back then, and what had happened. As she left, she was bullied by Huan Fei's maidservant, but Snow King Bing Jian appeared in time and beat the maidservant until she coughed up blood. Mu Xuan Jue had also been watching nearby, and the maidservant left hurriedly when she saw him. Bing Jian and Shuo Ye were old friends, and Mu Xuan Jue took Ling Zhi away. Ling Zhi planned to ask Bing Jian about the truth behind her clan's destruction in the future.
Mu Xuan Jue felt that even if Ling Zhi had lost her memory, she was still his woman.
