Episode 3 recap: "Wang Eryong was arrested.
When Cheng Bing rushed to the scene in a hurry, the other police officers standing nearby sat there silently, filled with sorrow. He instantly sensed that something bad had happened and quickly turned his head to enter the house. There, he saw the girl lying in a pool of blood and suddenly remembered that she was alone at home when her father went out. He regretted not noticing all of this at that time.
Returning to the room, Cheng Bing continued to focus on the footprints on the windowsill. Suddenly, he began to recall the missed details from the previous day and reconstructed the scene. He realized that after his colleague left, Wang Da Yong and his brother secretly entered the house and brutally killed the girl.
Pan Da Hai also arrived shortly after they left. After the forensic expert made an assessment, they successfully determined the time of the girl's death. When Cheng Bing and Pan Da Hai went together to report to the higher authorities, they learned about the sequence of events. They felt immense guilt, not only towards the deceased girl and her family but also towards the police uniform they were wearing. Upon hearing their words, the three of them were prepared to take the blame upon themselves. However, the higher authorities did not want that outcome. They continued to urge them to bring the culprits to justice and restore the reputation of the police.
Meanwhile, the Wang brothers, who were hiding in an abandoned house, calmly devised their plans. After finishing his cigarette, Wang Da Yong told his brother that he would leave the city on the 15th. At this moment, he reassured his brother with confidence, firmly stating that he would not be captured and brought to justice. His eyes were filled with determination, unwilling to believe in fate."
After returning, Cheng Bing and a few others sat together for a meeting to continue their discussion. Wang Da Yong, who was carrying the murder case on his shoulders, still had no intention of leaving the city. At this point, others suspected that they must have something important left unfinished. Soon after, the forensic expert suddenly delivered the autopsy report of the deceased. As Cheng Bing read through the contents, it was as if he witnessed the cruel murder of the victim by the Wang brothers, and his anger and grief intensified.
The police, during this time, did not forget to issue a city-wide wanted notice and prepare to capture the culprits. However, they had no leads. During breakfast, Cheng Bing continued to focus on the case. Soon, he obtained information about the whereabouts of Wang Da Yong and his accomplice. He hurriedly went there and gathered more clues from a steamed bun vendor. Then, he proceeded to investigate the abandoned building.
Soon, Wang Da Yong and his accomplice exposed themselves by stealing a car on the road, preparing to escape. At a street corner, Wang Eryong directly ran to another car, robbed the driver, and followed his brother in their escape. Cheng Bing and his team discovered the clue of their follower and chased after them in a car. Through the rearview mirror, they saw Wang Da Yong instructing his brother to take the money and leave while he stayed behind to deal with the pursuing police.
However, despite intercepting the two cars for a long time, they failed to capture Wang Da Yong himself and only apprehended his brother. Upon returning, Cheng Bing sat in front and began interrogating the prisoner, hoping to make him confess and reveal his brother's whereabouts. But Wang Eryong knew he had no way out and maintained an arrogant attitude throughout.
Then, Wang Eryong continued to provoke the police in front of him while casually smoking and leisurely narrating the entire process of his crime. Seeing his utter lack of remorse, Cheng Bing became infuriated and prepared to take action, but the others quickly pulled him away. However, upon returning to the room, they discovered that something had happened to the prisoner inside.
What could be more heart-wrenching than a tragedy unfolding right before your own eyes? From the moment Cheng Bing learns about the incident in Ping An Community, he plants an unwavering determination to catch the Wang brothers. Moreover, it is the fact that he had encountered the victim the previous night and then witnessed a life slipping away at the crime scene the next day that intensifies the agony.
Lin Ying's performance is commendable. From the fact that she is the only one in the team who uses a cellphone, it's evident that she comes from a well-off background.
However, despite her privileged upbringing, she doesn't exhibit any signs of arrogance. As Cheng Bing's apprentice, she follows him wherever he goes, enduring long stakeouts without complaining and fearlessly pursuing suspects.
When working together with Cheng Bing to apprehend criminals, their cooperation is seamless. When they reach the "count to three" moment, she swiftly takes her position and decisively captures them.
She truly embodies both intelligence and courage.
Ironically, in the end, Er Yong did die at the hands of the police... It's interesting how I feel that experienced police officers like Cheng Da possess great skills and abundant experience, but it's always the ones who can swim that end up drowning.
The more experienced someone is, the easier it is for them to overlook certain small details. I wonder if the plot will unfold similarly to the movie. Looking forward to it!
In my personal opinion, the adaptation is reasonable. Although they added a familial storyline for the antagonist, it actually made the character more nuanced without forcefully injecting unnecessary romantic plotlines. Those who have watched suspenseful detective dramas know how annoying it can be when emotions are forcibly manipulated.
Of course, some may argue that this is an attempt to whitewash the character, but I believe that even villains have their reasons for being bad. Their upbringing and family environment are unavoidable factors. The drama doesn't shy away from portraying their pitiful side, but it still focuses on their despicable aspects.
At least, I don't think it deviates from that.
It's probably because the little sister from the previous round got into trouble, and the person behind this must be Er Yong. They only targeted the pretty girl; isn't that idiotic?
A large group of people entering the entrance of the residential area would raise suspicions for anyone, but I have to say that Da Yong's vigilance is exceptionally high.
If Chen Bing had been a little more careful, he could have caught them when they quickly jumped from one balcony to another. Shi Tou and the others must be regretting it for the rest of their lives!
How tragic! The student in the second year of high school should be entering the third year next year, yet such a thing happens. The two brothers used the pipe between the two balconies to move to the adjacent one.
The transition was simply amazing! When the door was opened, the little girl didn't even realize someone was behind her. It was only after Chen Bing and the others left that Da Yong and Er Yong came out.
Chen Bing probably had a similar intuition, but there must have been a small mistake in the details. In this world, it's people like Er Yong who, just because a girl looks pretty, think they can violate others.
Old Pan heard the forensic doctor say 11:00 to 1:00. He should be feeling guilty! If he hadn't distracted Chen Bing, this wouldn't have happened. Da Yong has now decided to give up on his younger brother.
It's about time; why are you still thinking about that? Er Yong is beyond redemption! Da Yong has already made up his mind to kill. He still loves his brother, so he's the one doing all the killing.
If caught, he would surely die, but his brother would only get a few years in prison. That way, Mom and the girl would have someone to rely on. With this situation, his brother definitely can't stay.
Director Zhou had a point when he said that you owe that girl an apology. If they had arranged for a police officer or two to stay at her place, this wouldn't have happened.
They knew full well that Da Yong and Er Yong were inside the entire building, yet they only assigned two people to handle them. Those are dangerous criminals!
The TV drama version magnified the regrets of the Third Division. The 412 case happened in the residential area they had investigated. They had seen the victim and even spoken to them. When this case came to light, Shi Tou and Xiao Xu were filled with remorse and self-blame.
Even through the screen, you could feel their sense of powerlessness. It's a thorn that will remain in their hearts for the rest of their lives. And the cinematography was incredible. When Chen Bing recalls the details of the case, he puts himself in the shoes of what happened in the past, as if he's witnessing it all unfold right before his eyes...
The impact is just too strong.
In the movie, there isn't much description about Wang Da Yong and Wang Er Yong. Their characteristics are mostly inferred through the progression of the cases. However, in the TV drama adaptation, their storylines are incorporated, and let me tell you, it's quite satisfying to watch!
Starting from their theft of firearms and committing murder, they continue to commit crimes while on the run. Wang Er Yong is greedy and lustful, and the portrayal of his paranoia, arrogance, vengefulness, and his tendency to be swayed by desire is spot on.
