The Lonely Warrior: A Thrilling Blend of 'Internal Affairs' and 'Infernal Affairs'

Before watching this movie, the author thought it was the mainland version of "Infernal Affairs," considering that both scripts had similar character setups - the protagonist's entire team "wiped out"! However, after watching the film, the author felt it was more like a movie adaptation of "Internal Affairs" because the recurring song in the movie evoked memories for many viewers. Not to mention, the initial plot setup also shared commonalities, or rather, was even more tragic than the TV drama version of Zhou Zhi Ming.

1. Before being captured, Wang Da Yong had clearly suffered internal injuries from a gang assault by passersby. Even though the fatal blow that led to his death was the last straw, shouldn't the previous assault have been investigated? With Wang Da Yong severely injured, why did The Lonely Warrior have to shoulder all the responsibility?

2. When special measures were taken against Wang Da Yong, we also witnessed the scene where some people were caught off guard by their teammates' sudden rage, leaving them clueless and not physically involved. Others were merely involved in pulling them apart, with only a few individuals resorting to physical aggression towards Wang Da Yong.

So, when it came to assigning blame afterward, why did those who had not physically engaged or pulled them apart also receive punishment? Of course, some might raise a chilling possibility: six years later, when Cheng Bing was released from prison, would Yang Jian Tao, the captain of the Second Team who was just a junior back then, retaliate against his senior brothers who had conflicts with him? However, in my opinion, this possibility is unlikely to exist because, even after six years, Yang Jian Tao still took great care of Cheng Bing upon his release, and the latter did not exhibit any signs of exclusion towards his junior brother.

If Yang Jian Tao had plotted against them back then, Cheng Bing would not have shown such behavior six years later. But in the end, I also want to pose this question: back then, they believed it was only right to use memory recovery techniques on Wang Da Yong. But if they had targeted the wrong person and confidently employed those methods, could an even greater tragedy have unfolded?

At least during the era depicted in the movie, such stories existed!
