Episode 12 recap: Mr. Pang asked Cheng Bing to help find Wang Da Yong.

Mr. Pang stated that if Cheng Bing and his team could locate Wang Da Yong and bring him before him, they would be rewarded with 1 billion yuan. He emphasized that their search for Wang Da Yong was not solely motivated by money. Pan Da Hai joined the conversation, and Cheng Bing pointed out that they had diligently solved numerous cases over the years. Pan Da Hai mentioned that the circumstances had changed since then, as the national fingerprint database was now interconnected. This meant that if Wang Da Yong committed a crime, he could be apprehended immediately.

Mr. Pang discovered that this Wang Da Yong was an imposter and expressed his dislike for being deceived. He decided to kill Fēng (峰哥) directly. Mr. Pang claimed that he had been searching for Wang Da Yong for many years, and Cheng Bing's team was the only one that had any connection to him.

Cheng Bing shared their perspective, and Mr. Pang admired Cheng Bing's persistence in searching for Wang Da Yong, even though he was no longer a police officer. Mr. Pang explained his personal vendetta against Wang Da Yong. As the leader of the jade business in the area, no one dared to challenge him. However, one day, when he was negotiating a business deal, Wang Da Yong suddenly rushed in, stole a jadeite stone, and shot Mr. Pang twice, leaving him crippled.

Later, Mr. Pang reviewed the surveillance footage and discovered that Wang Da Yong had planned everything meticulously. Six months prior, Wang Da Yong had been working as a helper in the kitchen, and he had planned the escape route and other details in advance. After obtaining the jadeite stone, he crossed the border and returned to China. Mr. Pang reiterated that if Cheng Bing and his team could find Wang Da Yong and bring him before him, they would receive a reward of 1 billion yuan. However, Cheng Bing emphasized that their motivation for finding Wang Da Yong was not solely for the money.

Cheng Bing hoped that Mr. Pang would not trouble the young boy (referring to Wang Da Yong) in the future, and Mr. Pang agreed. He returned Cheng Bing's team their mobile phones. Lao Liao and the others finally contacted Cheng Bing and felt relieved. Cheng Bing and his team found Lao Tang, and everyone was happy to see each other.

Cheng Bing showed the photo of the jadeite stone to Lao Tang, who was involved in the business, and asked him to inquire if anyone had seen that particular stone. Cheng Bing and his team returned to Ningzhou and had a gathering with Lao Liao and the others. Shi Tou shared their dangerous experiences, which everyone found to be extremely perilous.

Pan Da Hai arrived, and Cheng Bing told him about the jadeite stone. Pan Da Hai assured Cheng Bing that they would follow up on this lead and asked him not to interfere anymore. Cheng Bing emphasized that they had painstakingly solved all these cases over the years, but Pan Da Hai pointed out that times had changed, and the national fingerprint database was now interconnected. If Wang Da Yong committed another crime, he would be apprehended immediately.

Pan Da Hai gathered everyone for a meeting and instructed them to continue investigating based on the lead of the jadeite stone. Lin Ying talked to Pan Da Hai about the matter and agreed that Cheng Bing's approach was correct. Pan Da Hai reminded Lin Ying to be mindful of her identity as a police officer, while Cheng Bing and his team were not.

Lao Liao's wife expressed her dissatisfaction with Lao Liao's recent behavior. He constantly mentioned the Third Brigade and only cared about gathering with Cheng Bing and the others, without even paying for meals. Lao Liao's wife mentioned that the Third Brigade was a thing of the past, and now their family relied on the income from their small restaurant. They even used it to support their son's college expenses.

Everyone naturally gathered around Cheng Bing to discuss how to find Wang Da Yong. Cheng Bing believed that they should follow the lead of the jadeite stone. Xiao Xu knew about the four cities in China with the most jade trade and suggested asking his connections in the local branch of an insurance company to inquire if anyone had seen the stone called "Shi Tou" there.

Everyone leveraged their personal connections to gather information about the whereabouts of the jadeite stone. Cheng Bing added Tong Tong on QQ (a messaging platform), and after seeing her latest post, which was written in an unconventional style, he asked someone about it and learned that it was about love. He suspected that Tong Tong might be involved in an early romance, so he secretly followed her after school. There was a boy bothering Tong Tong, and Cheng Bing intervened. However, Tong Tong expressed that Cheng Bing had never been there for her when she needed him and asked him not to disturb her life anymore.
