Episode 2 recap: Chen Nai Nai plays matchmaker between her grandson and Zhuang Jie.
In her early years, Chen Nai Nai was a coach for the provincial table tennis team and enjoyed great success. However, her career was ruined after a fight with a colleague, and now her greatest concern is her grandson. Despite being an impressive and well-built man in his thirties, her grandson has been unable to find a girlfriend. No matter how many blind dates she arranges for him, they always end without success.
By a twist of fate, Zhuang Jie and Chen Mai Dong meet again tonight. They were high school classmates, which makes Chen Nai Nai even more pleased with the situation. Chen Mai Dong senses his grandmother's intentions and hints that Zhuang Jie's phone is ringing. Zhuang Jie takes the opportunity to leave and goes home to talk to his best friend, Wang Xi Xia, about Chen Mai Dong. To his surprise, he learns that Chen Mai Dong was involved in a serious fight during their senior year of high school, which nearly resulted in someone's death.
Wang Xi Xia has some knowledge of Chen Mai Dong's situation due to their connection. In the past, Chen Mai Dong's father made a fortune through business and then wanted to abandon his wife. They went to court, and twelve-year-old Chen Mai Dong was sent back to his grandparents' side.
Nowadays, Chen Mai Dong works as a reconstructive surgeon and has become a civil servant with a stable job. In the eyes of Wang Xi Xia and Zhuang Jie, he has a good nature and almost went astray but managed to turn his life around, making him worthy of forgiveness. Chen Nai Nai returns home and keeps mentioning Zhuang Jie, actively inquiring about his situation.
Chen Mai Dong appears indifferent, which infuriates Chen Nai Nai. She believes he is still thinking about his ex-girlfriend, Song Yi, and accuses him of having poor judgment in people. However, in the next moment, Chen Mai Dong reveals that Zhuang Jie was once involved in a car accident and has prosthetic limbs below his right knee. Chen Nai Nai is momentarily stunned upon hearing this but quickly recovers. She still believes that Zhuang Jie is a suitable match for her grandson and regrets that her stubbornness has kept him single until now.
Chen Mai Dong locks himself in his room and looks at Song Yi's wedding invitation, feeling complicated. Early in the morning, there is a tense atmosphere in the house, and no one dares to provoke Liao Tao, who is in a rage. Zhuang Jie's younger brother, Zhuang Yan, who shares the same parents, returns from vacation and surprises the family as soon as he enters. He is dressed strangely and carries a large goose named "Ji San Ge Zi" in his arms. His statement about the new family member almost drives his mother, Liao Tao, crazy.
Liao Tao is deeply troubled by her eldest son. Unlike the previous generations who served in the military, he lacks masculinity and is constantly sensitive and fragile. He spends his time hiding in his room, painting.

Chen Mai Dong doesn't hold high expectations for his apprentice but simply wants him to invest more passion into his work. However, Feng Xi Lun doesn't pay much attention to his advice.
Chen Nai Nai personally visits her old friend, Grandma Lin, and asks her to read the fortune and determine whether Chen Mai Dong and Zhuang Jie are a suitable match. Grandma Lin indicates that there is still hope for the two, but the crucial decision lies with Chen Mai Dong, and the process will be extremely challenging and painful.
Apart from that, there will be a third party involved in Chen Mai Dong and Zhuang Jie's relationship. Chen Nai Nai wants to know their ultimate fate, and Grandma Lin bluntly states that their connection is not only significant but probably destined. Zhang Xin, a female colleague, has been hastily arranged for marriage by her family, and she is forced to give up her beloved funeral industry. On the last day, she invites Chen Mai Dong and others to have a meal.
During the dinner, Zhang Xin opens up about her inner thoughts, expressing her envy for Feng Xi Lun's excellent mentorship. As a woman, she feels burdened with too many helplessness. At that moment, Zhuang Jie finds Zhuang Yan at a roadside food stall, drowning his sorrows in alcohol, and overhears the conversation between Chen Mai Dong and the others at the next table.
To comfort Zhang Xin, Chen Mai Dong tells her that she can keep these experiences in her heart and not expect everyone to understand. The decay of the body is just another truth of death, reminding them of the fragility of the physical form through sight and smell. In Buddhism, monks meditate on decomposing corpses to remain vigilant about life.
This confuses Feng Xi Lun, and Chen Mai Dong explains to everyone that bodies go through different stages of decay, including bloating, decomposition, bloodstaining, pus-filled, and green discoloration, among others. However, just as he finishes speaking, Zhuang Yan can't hold it in and vomits. Chen Mai Dong notices and stops the topic, walking straight past Zhuang Jie and heading home, just like when they brushed past each other in the past.
