Plot Synopsis

"In the Name of the Brother" is set in the backdropof thepuppet state of Manchukuo on the eve of the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan. It tells the story of intelligence operative Song Zhuowen, who infiltrates the Special Operations Division of the HarbinPolice Department. He is mistaken by the division's chief, Guan Xue, as his savior. Guan Xue is cold-blooded and suspicious, while Song Zhuowen goes through countless hardships to gain the trust of Guan Xue and high-ranking Japanese officials in order to eliminate obstacles to the final victory of the war.

In 1944, under the rule of thepuppet regime in Harbin, Song Zhuowen, a member of the undergroundparty disguised as a railwaypatrol officer, is mistaken by Guan Xue as his long-lost twin brother, Song Zhuowu. Song Zhuowen's highest mission is to investigate the arrival of Lieutenant Colonel Qian Yedawu from the Kwantung Army in Harbin. He takes advantage of Guan Xue's trust to enter the Special Operations Division. However, Song Zhuowu suddenly appears,putting Song Zhuowen in an unexpected dilemma. Guan Xue is ruthless and suspicious, while Song Zhuowu is impulsive and often unintentionally sabotages Song Zhuowen's operations. Only through the arrangements of their superiors do the two brothers manage to cooperate and cover upfor each other. After experiencing several trials and avoiding the internalpower struggles among their colleagues in the Special Operations Division, they finally gain the trust of Guan Xue and high-ranking Japanese officials.

Within this short span of one year, the undergroundparty members endure great hardships to uncover andprevent secret collaborations between the Japanese and the Soviet Union. They also expose thepuppet Manchukuo spies lurking within their ownparty, ultimately leading to the final victory of the war.
