Plot Synopsis

Translation:

"ShanghaiPicked Flowers" tells the story set in the Shanghai concession from 1910 to the end of the 20th century, where "war" and "song and dance" intertwine in the bustling international settlement. The story revolves around the growth of a tabloid journalist and the love and hate relationships that unfold among ten female celebrities.

In the 1930s, Feng Yilun, who grew upin an orphanage, coincidentally becomes a journalist. Assigned to cover the film and television industry, he forms an inexplicable bond with the actress Xu Laiyi. As he develops his career, he is influenced by Li Ruoyi, an idealistic andprogressive young man who is officially apatrol inspector but secretly works towards socialprogress. Feng Yilun transforms from a simple entertainment reporter to an investigative journalist who exposes the dark and ugly aspects of society, striving topresent the truth to thepublic. Along the way, he unravels the mystery of his own identity. When he learns that his father waspersecuted and killed for challenging the reactionary government in the interests of the workers, he makes a resolute decision to follow in his father's footsteps. Secretly cooperating with Li Ruoyi, Feng Yilun successfully disrupts theplans of the Japanese aggressors. In theprocess, he gains the favor of Xu Laiyi. Eventually, the two of them choose to join theprogressive youth in Yan'an, dedicating themselves to the liberation struggle. Their legendary life stories become the talk of future generations.
